Attendance 26
The Whites had 2 more players than the Reds at game time, so Tom O'Connor tried to go Red, but he could not find a Red sweater.  He played 1 period with the Whites and then went over to the Reds, leaving a team that was winning 1-0 Meaningful, on Hacksaw's goal and they also had a 2-1 Meaningless lead on a goal by George of the Jungle.  (Formerly known as Hat Trick George)  The Reds went on a scoring spree once TO joined the team.  Geno tied the meaningful

score in the second and TO got the game winner in the third.  The Reds also took the Meaningless  contest 7-4 on goals by the Flea, a beautiful tip of a Basketball Jones blast by Backhand Johnny.  Basketball Jones had a goal disallowed when the Brain moved the bet before Tim blew it past him.  I always felt you should get 2 points for hitting a moving net, but that is just me.  Young Rob G and Art scored for the Whites to make it close, but Mini Wheezer sailed the dagger into net in the final minutes.  Perry reported that Rich storm also scored.  He also wanted to give Scott the Bookie one, but that was last week.  Final score was Reds 7, Whites 4 and 2-1 Meaningful.
TO Made the Duffer History Page
Tom O'Connor became the first Duffer to win 4 in one night.  He left the Whites with a 1-0 Meaningful Lead and a 2-1 Meaningless  lead.  His new team pulled out 2 wins.  We have had several Duffers win 2, Butt Head did it on October first, 1999 when the King traded him for Magoo.  Beak went over to join the White team, so he got 2 wins in a trade for  SPED, who became the 3rd Duffer to lose a double header.  Beavis Coughenour was the first Duffer to lose 2 in one night, a few years earlier.  How do I know this?  I used the lopatka.net search engine to find this bit of trivia
The Flea Demonstrated his Expertise in Cryogenics.
Stump brought in a cooler of beer that was frozen so solid that the thirsty Duffers were desperately trying to chisel out a beer with their skates and sticks.  This was no easy task since some of the beer was in bottles.  They ran hot water over them and finally got enough for a round.  Perry came in and saw the problem and lifted the bottom layer of ice encased beer.  There was 6 cans and one bottle, so he carefully calculated the total mass and the strength of the glass bottle.  He lifted the object just the correct height and dropped it to the floor where gravity took over and pulled the object to the floor at the precise speed that shattered the ice into many pieces and freed up the incarcerated beer without breaking the bottle!  He got a big cheer for his accomplishment and apologized.

Duffer News has a new look, because my printer likes this one better.  It has spooler problems when I print the old format.

Next Week 3 more Birthdays to Celebrate!

Beak (2/26/40), Frank (2/21/38) and Rich Storm (2/19/68)

If you want to join TO, Tweedy, Mini Wheezer and me at a table at "A Day at the Races" on March 16, let me know as soon as possible and I'll order you a ticket for $75.00.  Includes Food, Open Bar, parking and prizes.
Thanks to the Duffers that answered the call for help to my Granddaughter.  If you don't have a business to sponsor, you can donate a lesser amount that will go in as a Duffer Hockey Sponsor.  We have $200 and would like to get to the next level.  If you or your place of employment would like to help, e-mail me at: g.lopatka@comcast.net or print out the form below and mail it in.
