Hat Trick for Jeff is Just Enough.

Friday's game was a thriller, with the outcome in doubt until the final buzzer.  Jeff got the Reds on the board with a break away goal on his first shift.  Tommy Z made it 2-0 with a goal, but The Flea made it 2-1.  Harvey gave the Reds a 1-0 meaningful lead when he took a pass from Tommy that hit his stick, then ricocheted off of his skate, made a right turn and hit Art's stick.  The Brain was got dizzy watching the magic puck when Art put it into his own net.  Jeff had 2 more break away chances that the Brain foiled.  That gave his team a chance to get back

in the game with goals by Perry and Tom O'Connor.  TO's goal was a thing of beauty that the Anvil never had a chance to stop, as he one timed a bullet pass from Rich Storm right into the goal.  A beautiful "back door" goal that tied the Meaningful contest at 1.  Thor got the Game winning Meaningful goal late in the second period and that gave the Whites a 4-3 lead.  Mini Wheezer tied it at 4, but Art gave the Whites the lead again.  Bill By the Way gave the Whites a 6-4 lead after 2 periods.  Jeff got his second goal on another break away where he made more moves than Exlax and tucked one in to cut the lead to 6-5, but the Whites came right back with a goal by "I can't remember".  Perry thinks it was Rich Storm or Stump.  It looked like the Whites were going to break their 2 game losing streak, when George of the Jungle tapped in a TZ pass with 2 minutes left in the game.  Jeff tied it at 7-7 when he got his hat trick on a 1 on 1 with Art to beat.  He unleashed a wicked snap shot that went through Art's legs and hit the bottom of the cross bar and into the net.  Brian never had a chance as the puck came out of Art's black pants.

Report by Perry "The Flea" Lea         "Duffer's Cousin in Canada follows Danny Lopatka and Robby Granato to the 2008 Quebec Peewee International Hockey Tournament".

Like our own Tweedy and Robby Granato,  who played against Jeremy Roenick in 1980.  Matthew Tucci, the Flea's nephew in Montreal recently played at the world renowned Quebec Peewee International Hockey Tournament in 2008.  Matt had the opportunity to play against a peewee team from the New York coached by former great and Hockey Hall of Famer, Mark Messier (see picture).  Matt, like his father Mike and his older brother Mikey is a huge hockey fan and player.  His Dad Mike played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Sorel Blackhawk's back in the mid 70's.  Matt appears to be following in his Dad's footsteps.  He's only 13, but is 5'8" weighing a solid 176 pounds.  Matt was interviewed recently and was asked who is favorite players and teams were.  Although Matt plays defense for the Lake St Louis AA Peewee, he is a huge Steve Yzerman fan, and cheers for the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Matt is surrounded by his cousins Mark and Anthony who's father, Peter Mansi played in the majors as well.  He was coached by infamous Nordiques coach Michel "le tigre - the tiger" Bergeron.  Peter's brother Maurice Mansi, was drafted by the Montreal Canadians back in 1984.  He played for Montreal's farm team before heading off to Europe and playing there for

several years.  When Matthew was asked by Montreal reporter Ron Reusch what were Matthew's goals in life, Matt responded he has two achievements he wants to accomplish as a hockey player.  The first is make it to the NHL.  Once he's broken a multitude of scoring records and made his millions, his final and ultimate goal is to relocate to Chicago and become a Duffer.  He's enamored with the Duffer mantra which is "A drinking team with a hockey problem".  Matt will have to wait a year or two before he can join the ranks of the drinkers.  The drinking age in Quebec is 18, but it's only a suggestion.  For the time being though, Matt, Mikey, their Dad Mike, along with their cousins Mark and Anthony, and uncle Peter are honorary Duffers for just being fans of the Duffers.  Cheers to the boys of the Great White North.
