Peoria Problems
We can't get any ice for our game, because of a music concert on Saturday afternoon.  We are still planning to go there for dinner and the Rivermen game.  We may save the motel money for San Jose.

Stump was happy to see that Rich Storm has a new target.  Tommy Z got the inspiration for the above masterpiece, while he was in the Berserk reading room.

Thor's Disputed Goal Sinks the Anvil!
Friday 1/26/01

The Duffers have more ties than the Marshal Field men's department.*  The ghost and the Anvil battled to a 3-3 tie last week  with goals by Rich Storm, Tommy and Johnny  Z for the Blues.  Tweedy (2) and Morgan scored for the Whites.  Thor scored the only meaningful goal that was disputed when the Anvil moved the net.  Super Dave scored a disputed goal for the Blues when he kept hacking the Ghost until the puck went through him.  The Whites naturaly were hapy to count the disputed goals, because that gave them a meaningful win.

*I asked the Commissioner of the Catholic Hockey league, Jim Misiora, if I could use this quote when I saw it in Sun-Times Friday.  Jim said, "sure, I can't remember where I stole it from."

San Jose!!!

We will probably leave early on Saturday March 10, so we can watch the Sharks play that night. We plan to return home on Tuesday, March 13.  Twenty two Duffers have indicated that they would go.  We all know that money talks and we will need a $275 deposit by February 9 to buy your ticket at a reduced rate.  Right now we are looking at $276 for a round trip non stop to San Franscisco.  Last week a flight to San Jose was $218 prices are jumping.

Here is a hint for you first timers, save your money, sick days and be nice to your lady. Show the web pages from our 1998 San Jose trip. l
Brinks accomplished his mission in San Jose.  He arranged for us to skate in the Shark Tank several times and watch 2 Shark games.  The Sharks play Saturday 3/10 and Monday.  Veto and Brian Kraft already asked if they could join us.  Even Fred is interested.

Signs of Spring!

Just a few more warm days and this biker will be on the road again.  You can see this bike in front of an Irish Pub on south Western Ave.

Golf Outing

All of the Duffers that participated in the September 9, 2000 Holy Trinity golf outing were featured in the Winter newsletter.  You can join us next year on September 8, 2001  $20 paid for food, drinks and 9 holes of golf at Waveland.

Christmas Party

Berserk has graciously volunteered to host the Duffer Festivas party in February in his new house.

 The Peoria Rivermen
Top the Nailers, 4-2

 for 2nd Straight Win ...
It was a snowy weekend in Pennsylvania and the Rivermen battled the elements to get to their Sunday afternoon bout in Wheeling. Peoria with two goals from Arvid Rekis, dumped the Nailers by a 4-2 count to increase their NW Division lead over Toledo to six points with a game in hand. Rekis' first goal came with just 1:27 left in the first period and tied the game at 1. Joe Rybar gave Peoria its' first lead scoring off the face-off just 5:27 into the 2nd period. But with just under 5 minutes left in the 2nd period the Nailers scored on the powerplay to tie the game. Rekis got his 2nd goal of the night, and 3rd point when his shot from the blueline got past Joel Laing for the game winner. That goal came 12:19 into the final period. The Rivermen completely dominated the game, outshooting the host Nailers by a 46-20 count and got their 4th and final goal of the night with just a second left when Dustin Kuk scored on the empty net. Kenric Exner got the win, his 15th on the season. Peoria's record is now 26-10-4 and trails 3rd place Louisiana by just a point in the overall ECHL points race. Trenton leads the Northern Conference with 61 points and the ECHL overall. South Carolina is 2nd with 59 points and leads the Southern Conference. Tonight's win was Peoria's 14th win on the road, where only 12 of the last 36 Rivermen games will be played. Peoria will close out this current road trip next Friday in Dayton before the same two teams return to Carver Arena for the rematch on Saturday, January 27. In the AHL tonight, Worcester dumped Providence by the same 4-2 score and now remain alone atop the league.

Keith Magnison tells the Denver U team that Frank is 75 years plus years old and still playing hockey.

Tweedy and Frank wanted to empty the beer cans out of the trash bag, but they couldn't get it off of the head rest, so they took the head rest to the garbage can.
