DUFFER NEWS
October 13, 2000 Reporters Cammi Granato ***
Rich Storm
Goalie to be Named Later,
Shuts out the Whites.
The worst one sided game in several seasons, ended
with a 6 or 7-0 meaningless win for the Blues. Stump was outstanding
as he held the game scoreless until the last second of the first period.
John Koss made a beautiful deflection of a shot from the point that Stump had no chance on. That goal would have been the goal of the Millennium except for one thing. He deflected the shot past his own goalie. I didn't see any meaningful goals, although Beer Nuts claims to have scored one. Klinger has yet to confirm it. I'm going to White Castle to see if I can find him. (See Cartoons on this Web Page) |
The "Goalie to be named later" is Brian.
Larry just e-mailed me with that information. This was Brian's second
appearance in a Duffer game. In his first game he was a little shaken
when he gave up 6 goals in the first 2 periods. He was used to playing
in men's leagues where the players get the puck, skate and shoot.
He had never seen so many passes. When we explained to him that the
younger guys try to pass to the older players so that they can get a meaningful
goal. He felt better when we told him 5 of those goals were meaningless
and the game was tied 1-1.

Beak,
Greetings to all from Sao Paulo (St. Paul), Brazil.
Population within the city, which goes as far as the eye can see in any direction, is 12 million. It's the second or third largest city in the world. Very beautiful but ruined by graffiti. People and traffic abound. Three hours ahead of Chicago. I'm at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel (5 stars). Sixty
cable channels with eleven in English. Great fitness center.
The surrounding areas get seedy in a hurry so
The food in the city is great. My host has taken me to several local establishments. Bottled water is the big commodity here. Even the natives won't drink from the tap. Scheduled to return the morning of 10-19. Please save me a hard copy of the 10-6 and 10-13 newsletters. Thanks, Fred |
