Another fun filled week to give thanks, but I'll pass on that. The Anvil told me that his wife read the Thank You filled Thanksgiving Duffer Newsletter and started to shed a few tears. Then Eddie got all emotional. The week started with 3 surprise guests at the Neutral Zone on Wednesday. More fun on Friday, as we were blessed with a great turn out that produced a fast, exciting 4-4 tie game. The fun continued on Saturday at the Anvil's 50th Surprise Birthday Party. Wednesday: Surprise guest #1. Long lost Geno Cromwell, who was our one eyed Canadian Gun for 10 or 15 of our early years. He disappeared about 10 years ago and watched us from the Internet.

Surprise guest #2 Papa Joe brought his son Joe Junior, who has been busy training troops for duty in Iraq the last few years. Surprise guest #3 Buck Shot brought Frank Harout, who has been inactive for more than 10 years. Friday: Thor got the Whites off to and early meaningful lead with a first period goal. Hitman knotted the score with a tip in of a Beavis shot from the point. The Reds took the lead on another deflection that hit the Brain in the brain and ricocheted into the net, but I can't remember who tipped it. Beavis and Butt Head each scored to give the Reds a 4-1 lead, but the Whites came storming back with goals by Thor and Brinks. It looked like the game would end that way, as the Anvil was impregnable until the closing minutes, when Beak Junior rushed into the zone, and flipped a back hander over Eddie to tie the game at 4-4. Papa came off of the IR to announce that he won't be back till next year. Saturday: Eddie was completely surprised when he walked into the Grove Sports bar on 111th Street. He gave many tributes to the Duffers in the bar that was packed with family and friends. He almost had me teary eyed.
