The Last Duffer News of the Second
Millennium !
The meaningless contest went to the Blues, 5-3. Doc and Tommy Z added 3 goals to Harvey’s pair. Rich Storm and Johnny Z scored for the Whites. Tommy’s wife Erica read 150 pages of her book during this exciting game 30 Years Ago 30 years ago, meaningful Duffers like the King , Frank and Beak were Tommy Z’s age or younger. They rented some ice at the brand new Icearena in Downers Grove, borrowed some of their kid’s equipment and the Duffers Hockey team was born. We found out that we all had one thing in common. We all love to laugh, and our antics, on and off of the ice have given us plenty of things to laugh about. Madison Road Trip We need to get moving on Madison. Do we want to see 2 games or just one? If we leave on Friday January 13 we have to sell our Friday ice. If we go on the 20th, we will loose some Granatos, because Cammi is playing in the Twin Cities that week end. If we don’t have 15 guys, the bus gets very costly ask the Hayward team.. We need a non refundable, $20.00 deposit so that the guys that go don’t get burned with cancellations. Give your deposit to Tommy Z. 50 Meter Space Rock Missed Us!
The Peoria Rivermen closed out it’s December road trip in a disappointing performance in Little Rock, losing to the Arkansas Riverblades, 4-1. The home team jumped out to a 3-0 lead with just 3:10 left in the 2nd period. Not until Darren Clark scored with just 59 seconds left in the same period did the Rivermen get on the scoreboard. This despite shooting nearly 50 shots on net for the game. It was Jeff Salajko stopping all but one of Peoria’s shots. Jason Bermingham would get an insurance tally just 4:05 into the 3rd period for a 4-1 final. The loss was Peoria’s 2nd in a row and ended the road trip with a 2-2-1 mark. The Rivermen fall to 20-8-2 but remain in first place in the NW Division and remain tied with Trenton for the top spot in the Northern Conference. Arkansas improves to 15-9-6 and is in 3rd place in the SW Division. Kenric Exner takes the loss, his first in his last 10 starts. The Rivermen will next play Toledo for three straight starting with a game at the Sports Arena on Friday, Dec. 29 before hosting the Storm in Peoria on Saturday, Dec. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 31.

I took this picture just before sun rise on 12/22/00. The crescent moon is racing at 2000 miles per hour toward the point in space where it will cast a shadow on the earth Christmas morning at 9:45 AM. | These are the same christmas trees that were pictured on the left with the crescent moon, now they are lit up by the Christmas sun at 9:40 AM. |
The picture above, was taken at 9:49 AM on Christmas Day | One hour later, the moon had taken quite a bight out of the moon. |
A lunar eclipse will ocure on January 9, 2001, but it will be over
before the moon rises in the western hemisphere. The lunar eclipse of 1992
is pictured above. |
