Attendance: Dismal

Where Have all the old guys gone?

Good turn out at
Buffalo Wild Wings

Meaningless Reds 11 Whites 9
Meaningful Reds 0 Whites 0

The Duffers have to finance the New Year's party separately, so here's how it's going to go for that day. Each Duffer will pay $20 to skate, same as last year, then I'm asking each Duffer to contribute $5 for each family member that comes. (I think that'll be the fairest for everyone and the rental skates will be available for free.

The Meaningless score was 11-9 Reds. None of the 4 meaningful players were able to score, so the score was 0-0. Hacksaw says most of the goals would have been disallowed with the 3 line rule.

That is not the Duffer way, slow down and pass to an old guy. We have to get back to "Old time Duffer Hockey."
You young guys have to start looking for the Meaningful Duffers if you want ink in the Duffer News. It's friggin embarrassing with all of these 0-0 games.  A Meaningful shut out used to mean something!
There were only 4 Meaningful guys there, and in the last few minutes that I saw, Boris and Hitman had chances to shoot at Eddie, but speedy kids took the puck from them. Tommy caught Hitman from behind and took the puck and Someone else (I forget) used their speed to take a puck from Boris, who had an open net with Eddie down and out.
(Mike assured me that earlier in the game, Tweedy, Tommy and Art tried hard to set up Magoo, Hitman, Fruitcake and Hacksaw without success.)
Party Food:  We need volunteers to bring food, snacks and Drinks on New Years Day. (See page 2)
Please e-mail me with your contribution and I'll post them so that we don't have 20 bags of chips and no Pretzels
Our New Year's skate is at 11:00A.M. with the family party following at 12:30.
It is at the International Ice Centre in Romeoville this year.

1581 W. Normantown Road
Romeoville, IL 60446
It is west of Weber Rd. and just South of I 55

(Left) Hitman, one of the 4 Meaningful Duffers that showed up last week.  Magoo, Fruitcake and Hacksaw made up the rest of the quartet.

Boy, you guys really have a lot of fun. Maybe I need to get some ruby slippers and wish I was back in Downers Grove. We just got electricity back today. It has been out since Friday 1:00 AM. We have gone from flood, winter storms to wind storms ( 60-90 MPH). Have a great Duffer Christmas and Happy New Year!
FORMICA #19

For the whites, I had 4, John had 2 and A.J. had 2. For the Reds, Mini Weezer had 2, By-the-way Bill had 1, .Tommy had at least 3, Danny had at least 3. I agree we need to get more meaningful goals. I tried to set-up hacksaw and Fred many times but to no avail. A few more meaningful Duffers would help. Where has Geno been? Is Geno or the King going to come to the New Years Day Skate? I might try to bring my dad if either or both are going to be there. ART
The final was 11-9 in favor of the reds. We had to play 4 on 4 again this week. Mini-wheeze scored 4 goals. One of them, he claims, was scored by some fancy move he called the "Cindy Crawford". It was something about lifting a leg to fake out the goalie. I must say, if one skate did come off the ice before he shot, it would not be noticed by a goaltender. Since Mini-wheeze skates like he has skate guards on all the time, his legs are usually flying in all directions, so Duffer goaltenders know not to pay any notice. Besides, everyone doubted that he could skate on one foot anyways. He tried to demonstrate it at the bar, and personally, I thought he looked like a German Shepard with turrets syndrome peeing on a fire hydrant. The best comment of the night at the bar also involved Mini-Wheezer. He was talking about running laps around something. I asked him "You actually ran laps around something?" Special Ed chimed in and said "What was it, a buffet table?" Special Ed also celebrated is birthday by keeping his scoring streak alive.... 3 games now I believe, as he was able to tuck one in past Eddie in the 3rd. I don't recall who else scored, as that was a long time ago. I believe the meaningless score was 0-0.... A shutout for both of us. Brain
