Thor Gets a Hat!
Friday 12/8/00
Friday's game was another thriller with the crafty veteran, Stump, dueling Brian the Rookie goalie.  Stump stopped all meaningful shots and Brian stopped all meaningless shots.  This has never occurred in a Duffer game.  Beak and Tom Morgan set up Thor’s first goal early in the game.  Uncle Bob brought a nephew that looked like a mini-Wheezer. Klinger tried to skate through the little tank and found out that the guy doesn't move.  Klinger scored a beautiful, disputed goal that Beak and Thor set up with a series of quick touch passes.  The dispute came when the puck hit the tight twine and rebounded back out.  The Referee, Papa Joe, had not arrived yet so the Duffer News  reporter made the call.  Tommy Z quipped, “The keyboard is mightier than the sword.” 

UB and Super Dave found a way to beat Stump, as did Tommy and Johnny Z.  The 4 meaningless goals (Goals scored by Duffers younger than the mean age of the Duffers.) looked like they would stand up for the Blues win. 
 Morgan set up Thor to bring the home team to within 1, but it looked like that is the way the game would end.  Many thirsty Duffers headed for a Heineken and a shower.  Thanks Brinks and UB!  (For the beer, not the shower.)
 Then it happened!  Butt Head passed to Thor with the clock winding down and “The scoring Machine” blasted his third goal of the night into the net to give the Whites a 4-4 tie and a 4-0 meaningful win.  That goal also gave Tom Morgan a play maker award for his 3 assist.  Tom's award was given to the waitress when he didn't show up for the awards presentation at the bar.  Stump also forfeited his Zero patch when he failed to show. 
Saturday December 9, Peoria!
Beak had to call the Peoria Rivermen coach Jason Christie and the Peoria Duffers to let them know that the Duffers were too busy or too tired to play a game on Saturday afternoon.  Only Beer nuts and Beak were available for duty. 
The Peoria Rivermen moved into 1st place with a win over Dayton Saturday night They are 13-5-1.

8:00 AM is a little early for a teen ager, but Mike is a Duffer GOD, so he got out of bed on Thanksgiving to play with his Dad and Granddad. (Not Old Granddad) Gentle Ben checks out the latest Duffer News as he gets dressed.  Harvey uses the Duffer News to get "Psyched" up for the game.
