That is one tired Stork!
In the October issue, we announced the births of 3 new Dufferetts.  Mike and Kathie Spillman were blessed with Daughter in August, While Tom and Beth Morgan, and Tom Bryja and Sandi added September girls to the Duffer family.

 Congratulations Dave,Barb, Frank and Jan
Little did I Know at that time that Dave and Barb Presecky presented Frank and Jan with their fourth grandchild.
6 pound, 14 ounce Ashley Rebecca was born on August 16.
Home Team Starts to Streak October 7, the Duffer home team, anchored by Papa Joe, the King and Bobka, Beat a Blues team that averaged 41.5 years of age. They used 4 of the NYPDs to lower their Mean age to 35.8. That seems impossible when Jim, Fred and Joe total 165 years.  They say the numbers don't lie,(Who the Hell is They?) but one of my favorite books is How To Lie With Statistics
Boris always gives the example of the guy that has his head in the oven and his feet in the freezer.  The mean temperature suggest that he is very comfortable.  Of course nothing could be further from the truth.

October 7
The score was 8-3.  Magoo had the only Goal in the over 40 group.  If we make goals scored by under 40 year olds meaningless, the Blues win 1-0
October 14
The Home team won a thriller 6-5 on a disputed goal.  Drano

Fun with numbers

My computer has been working overtime computing Duffer ages.  The next column  contains a list of the 1994 Duffers and their ages as of November 20,1994.  You may need a refresher course in Statistics to appreciate these numbers, or ask your sixth grader.  What I learned in graduate school is now taught in 6th grade.
Statistics 101
The
Mean age is the Average.  Wheezer is the proud owner of the Duffer Mean Age.  The Median age is the Middle age.  Joe Mazzarella Jr. and Gary the Ghost Casper  rank 20 &21, so their age is right in the middle of the roster.  They are our Median Age Duffers.  The Mode age is the most Frequently occurring age.  We have three modes at this time.  24, 32 & 37 all occur 3 times each
The
New Young Polite Duffers have blended in nicely with the veterans.  The NYPDs have learned quickly to smile when they have suffered an injustice at the hands (or stick)of a crafty veteran.  The games have been a lot faster, but very exciting.

We will take a look at the last 5 games in detail a little later, But first check out these ages.

admitted that he was standing in the crease when the winning goal was scored.  The only meaningful goal was scored by Don Granato, for the Whites.  The Blues spotted the Whites 4.9 years per man.

November 4

This week, the home team spotted the Blues 3 years and skated to a 5-5 tie.  Papa Joe had the only Meaningful goal of the game.  White 1, Blue 0.
November 11
The Home team, sporting a 41.7 mean age, skated to a 7-6 victory over the Visitors.  Muzzy scored the only meaningful goal of the game, giving the Blues a 1-0 adjusted victory.  The Muzz also helped his team get to the 40.9 mean age.
Records for the last 2 weeks in October had clam chowder spilled on them, and they had to be destroyed.  There is a lesson for you youngsters.  Never come home late at night smelling like clam chowder.

November 18

The meaningless goal rule has produced 4 consecutive 1-0 contests.  The World Cup provided more goals.  A new factor had to be developed. A Muzzy factor was suggested, then it happened!  A Shoot out with 20 total goals.  8 of them were scored by Meaningful guys.

Beak scored on his son Tweedy to start the fireworks.  Muzzy assisted on the goal when he fired a slap shot at the net. Beak tried to get out of the way when Fred pushed him into the shot.  The puck hit Beak between the legs and

GAME STATISTICS

squirted through Tweedy for a 1-0 lead.  I hesitate to call this a legitimate Goal because of the Bobka factor, but that is the beauty of the Factor. since that was the first goal, the square root of one is one.
Harvey blasted 2 goals past the shell shocked goalie and was about to get the hat when young Morgan(a big pain in the ass with 5 meaningless goals) jumped off the bench and hindered Harvey.
Muzzy added a slap shot goal to his assist.  That was his second goal in as many weeks.  The development of the Muzzy factor will have to be shelved for a while.
Thor Miller scored the 5th meaningful goal for the visitors.  Rick Miceli, Beak Jr. and Ziggy. Zagorski added 3 meaningless goals to the total.
Don Granato did all of the meaningful scoring for the home team.  Don managed three beautiful goals, no one could hinder him from the hat.
Drano Staats (2), The Prince and Beavis Cougehenour rounded out the meaningless scoring for the home team.

The new Season has been a lot of fun the NYPDs have added new Zest to a great organization.  Let's pause and give thanks to the Duffers. Happy Thanksgiving
