The Whites Win Again!

Romeoville, IL November 11, 2016  Attendance: 19

Barron had a great game to pick up his second straight win.  The Reds had a guest goalie thanks to Olgie MazarellaBruce did a fine job once he discovered that his teammates will score on him whenever possible.  Tom O'Connor spoiled his shutout when he turned his skate and redirected a shot past him.  The second goal looked like his defensemen Monet Mike poked it past him when he was battling Terry for the puck.  Mike said he scored on his own goalie but Terry said that he hit it last.  There were no witnesses to settle the dispute.  The bottom line is Bruce and the Reds were down 2 in the first period.  Shortly after that, The Czar and John Double U Shuurman scored and gave the Whites a 4-0 lead before the Reds could get on the board.  Jeff Speed Racer had a couple of goals to make it 4-2.  Dylan and someone else scored, but no one claimed the goal.  I do remember Jeff's 3rd goal, because I made a stretch pass from deep in my zone to the far blue line.  Speed racer caught it in stride and scored on a breakaway. Monet Mike Lopatka had the other goal for the Reds.  The Final Score was Whites 7, Reds 4 (Plus or minus 2)

Commander Ken took the Duffer Trophy to Yankee Stadium.

Commander Ken is taking the Duffer Trophy to more places than Flat Stanley*

Ken took the trophy with him to New York for a tournament for his son Jack.  He took it to MSG and Yankee Stadium.  Saturday he was at a bowling alley bar in New Jersey and he was spotted by a guy who recognized the Duffer Jersey.  He asked Ken if he could take a picture for his friend. The guy sent the picture to Duffer SOD Brian Kraft in Alaska.  Brian forwarded the picture to Beak.  As they say, It is a large World.
*Jeff Brown wrote a book called Flat Stanley in 1964.  Since that time that little guy has been to many places.  My Grandson's Flat Stanley had a great time in Alaska. See the Flat Stanley paragraph below.

Perfect Attendance: Beak, and his grandson Monet Mike

The trophy also made an appearance at Madison Square Garden

Flat Stanley

Jeff Brown wrote a book called Flat Stanley in 1964, and since that time, the little guy has visited many countries.  He went to the Academy Awards when Clint Eastwood took his daughter's Flat Stanley to the Academy Awards. This resulted in articles in People magazine and CNN.com. Several Flat Stanleys were hosted by Olympic athletes in Torino, Italy at the 2006 Olympic Games.  In October 2006, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger showed his son's Flat Stanley to Jay Leno. Schwarzenegger wanted to "pump him up." The Governor had been taking Flat Stanley with him on the campaign trail.

My Grandson Michael, asked me if I knew any friends that would like to have a visit from Flat Stanley.  I sent out an e-mail to several of my teacher friends and I got a reply in less than 10 minutes from Debbie Bennett in Fairbanks Alaska.  She told me to send him on the next plane, so Michael packed him up and sent him off to Fairbanks, Alaska.  When Flat Stanley came back to Bolingbrook, IL my grandson called me and told me that he wants to go to Alaska.  When I saw what a wonderful job that Debbie did with Stanley, I knew why Michael wanted to go to Alaska.  I took the following pictures of the Flat Stanley Journal that documented his stay in Fairbanks, Alaska. Check out his excellent adventure.

This picture was sent from a bar in New Jersey to Alaska to me in a matter of minutes because of the Duffer logo.

These pictures were given to us by Casey Oskroba. Thanks to all of the Duffers who contributed to her Duffer ad page.  You can still toss her a fin.
