The
Peoria Rivermen President John Butler confirmed this week that
Head Coach Jason Christie would return to guide the team for the
next two seasons. Last year Christie became the third head coach of
Peoria's ECHL Franchise, following in the footsteps of Mark Reeds and Don
Granato, the latter leading the team to its’ first ever Kelly Cup
Championship. Christie, a professional hockey player since 1986 won 45
games in his inaugural coaching campaign. The Rivermen compiled 100 points
enroute to their 3rd Northwest Division first place finish in four
seasons. In the post season, Christie’s team advanced to the Northern
Conference Finals against the ECHL’s regular season point champion
Trenton and forced the Titans to a game seven, where Peoria fell with just
30 seconds left in regulation.
