The Summer started with the Duffer Picnic on June 8, followed by a summer game on the following Friday.  A number of Duffers and Duffer wives enjoyed the Jimmy Buffett concerts on June 20 and 22.  The King, Boris, Beak, Beavis and Dill Deau baked in the sun on the first day of summer as they watched the Cubs blow an 8-0 lead.  Many Sox fans left after 4 innings because they couldn't take the pain.  Beavis got ticket stubs from one of the dejected Sox fans and ended catching Konerko's game winning home run.  As Yogi says, "It ain't over till it's over".  Hacksaw was exhausted after he saw over 20 "points". (Known as Runs in the USA.)  He said that he felt he had watched 35 Soccer games.  We had 20 Duffers, SODs, GODs, DODs, and WODs show up at the Sunday game that the Cubs won.  Thor was happy, because he got to keep the cup full of money that he was holding when Mark Bellhorn hit a home run.  He was playing one of Beavis' money games with Tweedy, Tommy Z and Rich Storm.  

Beavis may be leaving us for a job in Detroit.  He has been enjoying unemployment compensation.  He has been going to lunch at Nick's Tavern with the retired guys every week, He went to both Baseball games and he went to the Buffett concert with the coolest Parrot Head Hat.  He also bought a digital camera and sent Beak a CD-ROM full of jpg images.  ENJOY 

We also enjoyed World Cup Soccer, Hacksaw was crabby all week from watching games at 3 in the morning.  He really enjoyed the final when Brazil won the cup with the slaughter rule, 2-0.  He had never seen that many goals in one game.

Beavis and his Dog celebrated a little too much after his Red Wings won the cup.  His dog is pictured here imitating Berserk after a dozen Jello shots.
