Lunch with Scientists at the U. of Chicago
On November 26, 1997, Mr. Lopatka brought his students to the University of Chicago where Dr. Ron Dubreuil arranged for them to have lunch with Scientists.
Students had many astronomy questions for Dr. Don York. |
Mr. Lopatka consulted with Dr. York on a Big Bang web page. |
My students and I were involved with the GLOBE program. |
We were using brand new GPS technology to record our location. |
Wow.. I can't actually believe I found you on Facebook. I was a part of your after school science program. I remember all of the great things we use to do, from testing the pH of the ponds at Marquette Park, to rockets, to the solar eclipse, to being one of the first people I know to go on to the internet (we used a ridiculously long set of numbers to login, which took 15 minutes, only to send our current temperature to the local weather station). Just wanted to say thanks for fostering my education, and more importantly my science education. 2 weeks ago, I graduated from Harvard Medical School, and it was based upon my love for science that I chose the right profession, and stuck through it. Thank you Mr. Lopatka!
Calvin Williams.
The next time we went to University of Chicago, Dr. Ron Dubreuil arranged us to meet Paul Sereno and he took us to his Dinosaur Lab. The kids had a great time.
Thank You Dr. Ron Dubreuil! |
