November 20, 2008 Ed Waghorn called in sick, so Dan Lopatka had to strap on the pads. Dan was on the bench coaching his Lake Park High School team when he needed to be in the Wags locker room getting dressed. When the game was over, he retrieved his frozen hockey bag and quickly started to get dressed. When he pulled out his helmet, all of the padding fell out, fortunately Ed had his helmet in the van and saved Dan's head. The game was scoreless for the first 8 minutes until Tom Zagorski set up #22 for a 1-0 lead. Score sheet says 22 was Joe Fenzel, but it was probably Dan Granato. 4 minutes later, Tony Letto made it 2-0 on a pass from Russ Reel. It looked like Lopatka would carry a shut out into the second period, but Rodison scored with 23

seconds left in the period. The second period looked like a Gerry Springer show, as Letto got his "Irish" up when he tried to make a youngster apologise for getting a stick up in his face. He got 2 minutes for excessive parenting at 13:44. 6 minutes later, the Springer show broke out again when Zagorski got tangled up with some kid's dad. The Kid jumped Tom, so Schultz grabbed the kid and removed his jersey then let him live. Schultz got sent to the locker room as did the shirtless combatant. Then the referee put 2 of the Wheelers into the box and the Wags had a 5 on 3 for 2 minutes! I never saw a guy get tossed and give his team a 2 man advantage. There was no scoring until Black set up
Boyd Prucha with 3:35 left in the period. Zagorski set up Letto a minute later to give Wags a 4-1 lead going into the 3rd period. The Wheelers cut the lead to 4-2 early in the

3rd period, but Russ Reel got the 3 goal lead back with 7:56 left to play. That lead was cut to 5-3 thirty seconds later. Granato scored an unassisted goal at 5:26, then followed that up 32 seconds later with a goal assisted by Tom Black. Tom Zagorski put the game out of reach with 3:22 left in the game. The assist was given the #27, Steve Kueppers, but we know he wasn't there. Tony Letto picked up his Hat Trick with a goal with 2:12 on assists by Reel and
Prucha. John Woodring finished the scoring in the final minute with another assist from
Prucha. The Final Score was Wags 10, Wheelers 4. Lopatka was the winning goalie again, 24 hours later as he won 7-3 playing for the Duffers. *For links to all Wags' pages, go to:
