Perfect Attendance!

The following 21 guys have perfect attendance;

Tommy, Maestro, Mini Wheezer, Beak, Bookie, Frank, Klinger, Ken Lopatka, Magoo, Art, Brinks, Johnny, Tom Ambrosia, Bill BTW, Stump, Terry, Koss, Fruit Cake, Hacksaw, Anvil and The Brain
The Whites suckered the Reds into sending their only Canadian over to even up the numbers.  The Whites had 8 guys and the Reds had 10, but they had
Back Hand Johnny waiting in the wings.  As soon as Bill By The Way put on the White Jersey, JZ came out and gave the Whites 10 guys and the Reds were left with 9.  That meant Klinger, Frank

and Beak Junior had to double shift as they rotated 3 defensemen.  The beer tasted awfully good after the game, (Thanks Brinks!) but they were hurting the next day.  The Whites started the scoring when Art solved Eddie early and then their stealth player, Johnny Z, paid instant dividends as he made it 2-0.  His Brother Tom answered that one to make it 2-1, but Art regained the 2 goal lead with a blast.  Tommy set up Beak for a one timer, but Art blocked the shot and Tommy gave Art a mouth full for spoiling his meaningful assist.  John Koss scored a nice goal to make it 4-1.  Bad Back T&A (Tom Ambrosia) made it 5-1 for the Whites.  The Maestro scored for the Reds to make it 5-2.  Beak Junior fired a turn around slap shot the was deflected right on to the post.  It sounded good, but it bounced out.  TZ made it 5-3 with a wrist shot that hand cuffed the Brain.  Art added 2 more to make it 7-3, so Tommy scored a pair to make it 7-5, but Johnny fluttered one over the anvil and under the cross bar to put the game out of reach.  Brinks thought Koss had 2, but is that possible?  Final Score was 8-5 There were no meaningful goals.  Special Ed was at Wild Wings after the game and promised to make a comeback next week.  Wild Wings attendance was unacceptable.  (1 small table)

Happy Birthday to Wolves assistant coach, Jason Christie's son who was born on 9/11/2001

Maybe Donny will bring him out one day.  You know Jason  was almost Duffer property, we had a deal worked out in a Peoria bar with the owner of the Rivermen when Smurf was their player coach.  She wanted Stump and Beer Nuts for him, but she nixed the deal when she found out that Beer nuts was an overweight, ugly cigar smoking guy.  She thought we were going to give her edible Beer nuts for her bar.                                          TO is out for September!
"Tom O'Connor said that he can't make any September games, because he will be watching the SOX!  I sent the following to him:

"Listen son, I learned long ago that the Cubs or Sox can win or lose without me watching.  I also learned it doesn't matter if I wear my lucky shirt or under ware.  So you might as well go play hockey have a beer and watch the  replays at Wild Wings.  If they won, the beer taste a little better, if they lost, the beer taste great, because you feel happy that you didn't waste your  time watching a bunch of losers! "

Donny does it again!

Perry will be in Chicago the first week of October.

Klinger, doing what he does best.

5 years ago, We opened the season on September 5th too.  The King and Papa Joe were still active and having fun.  Sean Morgan spent the first period locked in the locker room.  We never did a beer count, but he got free for the second period.

10 years ago.  Duffer News was just going on line.

Clippings from the June 19th, 1998 Duffer News:
The first summer game, actually it was the last game of Spring, (Summer doesn’t officially start until the sun reaches the Tropic of Cancer on June 21st at 9:03 AM.) was marred by a poor turn out. Last June,
the King threatened to levy a Bulls Tax on all of the missing Duffers that stayed home to watch a Bulls play-off game. The Bulls game cost the Duffers over $150. Last year, Giffune was nice enough to pick up the loss for us.
This year Bill was missing too, so the Loyal Duffers that showed up, paid a $10.00 Bulls Tax, to cover for all of the no shows.
The next game is on July 3rd and the King is considering canceling the Ice to avoid another loss. A decision will be made at the Picnic.
“The Game Details”
The game got off to a shaky start when Koss overslept the 9:30 PM start. and then
was locked out of the Rink, The King and his court had trouble setting up the score
board. It was a site! The King was doing what no man ever wants to do, He was reading the soreboard Owner’s Manuel. Stump had to come to the rescue as he squeezed into the Scorers box in full goalie garb and put some time on the clock.
