Mini Wheezer Report

Road Trip Saturday March 24, 2007.
Our Bloomington Road Trip is less than 2 months away, Emil needs to know who is playing and who needs tickets and who needs a room.   We have our goalies, but we need some wingers and defense.
Last call for autographed copy of Bill Gaston's Midnight Hockey.  I'll be placing an order this week. Mini Wheezer Report

Art helps Mini-Wheezer to his Dad's car.  X-rays were Negative.

I'm happy to report that Mini was at the Festivous recovering from his crash.  His wife had a great time laughing at all of the "Ribbing" that Mike had to endure.  Pulled Muscles were changed to pulled fat.  Mini Wheezer didn't care, he had that Vicadin smile all night.  I got the following report from Original Wheezer's brother Keith.

Beak,
Big Wheezer was a casualty last week, too. He had his left knee scoped last Tuesday.  It was outpatient surgery so went home after a couple hours at the doc's. He had his meniscus repaired. That's cartilage damage. And the doc also cleaned up all the jagged areas. He was walking on it Friday and all looks well for a complete recovery. Must be a Wheezer thing.     Keith (Wheezer's Brother)
I called Wheezer on Sunday, he is in for  Our Bloomington Road Trip.

Game Report  The game got off to a controversial start when Mini-Wheezer was sentenced to wear his jinxed White jersey.  The Reds were rewarded with Robby "Piggy Bank" Granato. (Brink's Son)  The Reds thought it was a good trade.  The Reds pumped 6 pucks into the net in the first 2 periods, while the Whites could only push 3 past the Anvil.  Mini Wheezer had a break away, but Rich Storm caught him and poked the puck away, where Mini tried to capture it while skating at full speed.  The former Klinger Krash winner lost his balance and crashed into the boards with a booming, thunderous collision.  He took several minutes to crawl to the bench.  He will be billed for taking up our precious ice time.  Beak was sharing ice time with Mini and they usually need 3 wingers to make their game workable.  (Where the hell is Super Dave when we need him?)  Mini tried one shift, but he had to throw in the towel, so Beak had to put in way more ice time than His contract allows.  Once the Reds got a comfortable lead, they followed the unwritten Duffer rule and they slowed up ( Continued on Page 2)

and put their game on cruise control.  The Whites took advantage of this and stormed into the lead with 5 unanswered goals.  Tommy, Piggy Bank and the Maestro jumped into high gear and tied it at 8-8.  The Whites took the lead, only to have the Reds tie it up.  Hacksaw, the Referee in chief, was ready to call for a shootout, but the Reds scored in the final minute to save us the embarrassment.  We all remember how painful that was on Thanksgiving when 9 shooters out of 10 failed to get a shot at the goalie.  The Reds won the Meaningless contest 10-9 and they also took the Meaningful game, 1-0 thanks to Harvey's goal that was set up when Klinger crashed into the goal crease.  Bill "the Maestro" Conti lead the Reds with 4 goals.  Tommy and Piggy Bank picked up the rest.  Mini Wheezer, Johnny Z, Special Ed and the Granato brothers picked up the White goals.

Hacksaw, Rich Storm and Klinger gathered around the  Festivus Pole.

Stump is on the mend

Stump made a fast recovery from his emergency appendectomy, as he returned to the ice as a referee.  He spent the third period in the locker room helping the disabled Mini-Wheezer get undressed.  Not a pretty sight.  He hopes to return to work on Monday.

Stump relaxes with a box of Ho Hos.

Midnight Hockey E-Mail from Bill Gaston

Hi Greg--Thanks for posting the pictures and such. --Yikes, a bald eagle just flew by my window, quite low. maybe twenty feet away. That doesn't often happen!    Anyway, I managed to get a few goals this weekend, and one of them tied the game up with about a minute left, sending into overtime, which we won, sending us into the championship Sunday game--which we lost in a shoot-out. I hate those European gimmicks! (Mostly because I didn't score in the shoot-out. If I'd scored, no doubt I'd be a huge fan of the shoot-out!)

I ordered a bunch of books from Doubleday, which should arrive in a week, and it's no trouble for me to sign and send as many as you'd like, if you don't mind me sending them in the same package. Just lemme know. And just the one is fine too.

cheers,
Bill
