Attendance 24 Report by The Beak

Goalie Abuse, was the Cry!

The final warm up for Toronto was a game of many faces.  It started out like the Kids were going to blow "Eddie and the Reds" (Can be sung to the tune Benny and the Jets) away, as 14 year old Robby Granato teamed up with his Bantam team mate, Jeff Lopatka, to blister Eddie with a flurry of shots that found the net 7 times.  Rob had 5 and Jeff had 2 with 3 posts and a crossbar.  The Reds finally woke up and made a close game of it, once they finally solved the Brain.

Jeff and Rob's Glenn Ellen Flames team.

Beak gave the Reds the Meaningful Lead when He one timed a pass from Tommy Z right past the Brain.  Hitman made it 2-0 when he scored, but Thor answered that goal with a most unusual tally of his own.  He crashed the right post with his stick and crushed it to smithereens, but the puck continued toward the goal line where Bill Conti made a fruitless frantic dive that helped the slow moving puck cross the line.  Bill later scored one for his team.  Geno put the Meaningful contest out of reach with a 3rd period goal for the Reds.  Beak Jr. scored twice for the Reds to cancel his Son Jeff's goals.  First on a low wrist shot from the point, and then on a break away backhander.  His most damaging shot came when he brained the Brain with a slap shot.  It took several agonizing moments until  Hacksaw invoked International rules and stopped play.  I don't know what he was looking at, there were no chicks in the stands.  Rob Granato Senior did his best to cancel out his son's 5 goals, with 2 or 3 of his own and many assists.  Tommy added a pair with many helpers too, the most notable one came when he held on to the puck for 2 seconds, (An eternity in Hockey) then slipped it over to Berserk for an easy tap in.  The Reds pulled away for a thrilling 12-8 come from behind win.

The Duffer tune up was good for Jeff and Rob, as they both scored for their Flames Travel Team on Sunday Night, while Beak and his family celebrated his 66th trip around the sun.  Belated birthday wishes go out to Mike and Frank Presecki who celebrated duel Birthdays last week.  Big Thanks to Mini Wheezer, for selling a ton of Raffle tickets for the Jim Misori Day at the Races fund for St Rita .

Mini Wheezer needs to know if you want a ticket for the Wolves game on April 5th.  Last time he got us a group rate, he got stuck for some tickets,

so please pay up front.  Besides the game, We will be able to see him stuff his face full of a food to be named later.

Beak celebrated his 66th Birthday watching Jeff and Rob win a playoff game.

The latest news is running late, because Rob Granato and My Grandson Jeff are in State play offs this week. Details are at: Flames Hockey  I'll try to pass out hard copies on the bus to Toronto.  Uncle Bob always needed a 2 pager to help his excretory system on game days.  I know that the Goalies don't want to read about the game with 20 goals and Brian probably doesn't remember playing after his slap shot to the head.  I'm sure you don't want to read about how I scored a goal, even though I was a minus 3 after 3 shifts, thanks to Rob and Jeff, but if you do, be at the bus in Oak Brook Thursday Morning at 7:00

I did manage to post some pictures at: My 66th Birthday
