Welcome to

Lowest Scoring Game in Years!

Romeoville, IL 09/12/08
Attendance 21

This week, The Whites were short, only 7 Duffers put on their White Sweaters.  The Reds had 12, so some trades had to be made.  Rich Storm and The Maestro went over to the White bench.  That gave the Whites one player short of two full lines, so they had to rotate 3 defensemen like the Reds did last week, only this trio was about 70 years younger.  The Goal tending was outstanding this week as the Anvil and the Brain turned in Meaningful shut outs again! Art put the Whites out in front with a goal 8 minutes into the game.  Tweedy answered that one on the next shift when he looked into the corner

and blew a wrist shot past the Brain.  Tweedy gave the Reds the lead when he caught the Brain playing the pass to Beak that never came.  Tweedy tried to pass it off as a Meaningful goal when he said, "Nice tip Dad!"  Nobody bought that, so the game went into the second period with the Reds up, 2-1.  T&A (Tom Ambrosia) tied the game when he flipped a pass from the corner to the front of the net, where The Anvil picked it off and deflected into his own net. :-(  Brinks almost ended the Meaningful Goal drought when he skated in all alone on a break away.  The Anvil came out and poked the puck away with a head first belly flop.  Brinks went flying and became our first Klinger Krash candidate.  The puck ended up on Tommy Z's stick and he flipped it into the empty net to take the lead at 3-2.  Beak almost tied it with a tip that was headed for the 2 hole, but the Brain made a magnificent kick save.  Beak paid him back later when he got a little push in the back when he was close to the crease.  Beak lost his balance and looked for a soft place to land, so you guessed it, he landed on the well padded goalie.  He then tried to crawl out of the crease, because the puck was still in play.  He got hit with a shot in the butt and made a save for Brian.  The Reds trailed until midway through the final period, when Tweedy knotted the score with his Hat Trick.  Eddie had a couple of spectacular shifts as the Reds could not get the puck out of their zone.  Tweedy got the game winner in the closing minutes to give the Reds a 4-3 win.  The lowest score? #1 White Star of the Game!

E-Mail from Perry in Texas

Hi Beak, thank you for your voicemail. My apologies for not being able to call you back. Our phones are down including our cable and power. My Blackberry is not working well either. We had minimal damage
compared to some of our neighbors. We will be out of power for the next 2 to 4 weeks. We have a generator to keep our fridge cold but we will probably run out fuel by Thursday. No gas is available as there is no power. All in all no complaints. We are very fortunate it wasn't worst. Please send my regards to the family and the rest of the
Duffers.

Best regards,

Perry
