Geno Gets the 1st Meaningful!

Romeoville, IL 09/19/08
Attendance 23

Attendance improved by 2 this week, as the Whites actually had 11 skaters, so they were able to rotate 3 wingers!  The Reds got off to an early lead when Tweedy beat the Brain with a wrist shot.  Geno made it 2-0 with the first  Meaningful Duffer goal of the young season.  Back hand Johnny put a pass out front that came to a stop just inches from the goal line and it was right between the Brain's skates where he lost site of it.  Scott The Bookie pounced on it and poked it in to give the Reds a 3-0 lead in the first.  Tommy Z made it 3-1, but Tweedy made it 4-1.  Art made it 4-2, but his Son, "AJ" regained the 3 goal lead for the Reds.  Magoo had a break away that would have tied the Meaningful score, but The Anvil stoned him.

Klinger is happy that Tweedy's shot  hit his leg and not a little higher.

It looked like a laugher for the Reds going into the 3rd period when Art raced into the zone for a lose puck, but Eddie beat him to it and fired it toward center ice, but The Maestro picked off the clearing attempt and fired it into an open net.  Johnny Z got that one back with break away goal that he back handed into the net.  Reds 6, Whites 3.  Tommy Z and Art made it 6-5, so the Reds answered with another Tweedy goal. Tommy made it 7-5, but Tweedy sealed the win with a late goal to give the Anvil an 8-6 win.

Mini Wheezer tells us that Uncle Bob is all excited and he wants to get the Anvil out there this year.  I am willing to drive my hybrid car if necessary.  I'm tired of being treated like a felon when I try to go through airport security with my titanium hips.  Which reminds me, I was screening the Brain in front of the net when a shot came in from the point and nailed me right in the 2 year old titanium hip.  If I didn't have so much padding, it would have sounded like a post shot.  It didn't hurt that much and I forgot all about it until I showered on Saturday.  It left a nice puck mark.  Rich Storm said if we get 20 guys, he will go.  That may be possible since we have 4 out of towners who replied instantly.  My sons will go, Magoo is in plus all of the usual Meaningful Duffers.  T &A  can't wait and the King said he would play if we were short of players.  Check your schedules for the first week end of March and let me know if you want a 4 day or 6 day trip.

trip.  Wheezer will go just for the golf.  Brinks tells us Robby wants to go too.
