Thor Gets a Hat Trick!

Romeoville, IL 04/02/2010     Papa came back!
Attendance 22

Thor Miller, was on fire again as he put 3 more past Eddie the Anvil, We don't keep individual stats, because the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back.  At least that's the BS those multimillion air college basket ball coaches tell the kids who are slaving for room and board.  If someone has some free time at work, (Us retired guys are way too busy) could go back and count the goals, I would bet Thor would be right up there with Brinks for most meaningful goals.  Back in the 80s, when Thor was a rookie Duffer, he scored a couple of rare goals, so he was  tabbed the Scoring Machine, just for laughsThat name would be no joke this season.

Thor and V-Man get a free beer from the Rampage

Wally gave him the Thor moniker years ago and it stuck.  When one of the Rampage ladies asked him how he got his name, Beak quickly jumped in and said that he got that name in the locker room for being the God of Thunder.  As the women roared, Thor quickly jumped in with a, "Nooo" and told them the Wally version.  The Reds could only come up with 2 meaningful goals.  Big Buff beat the Brain on a pass from Tweedy.  Beak had some chances with his son Tweedy setting him up, but he kept nailing the Brain with his shots.  He did get an assist on one of those shots when Tweedy batted in the rebound.  Beak also was credited with an assist on Big Buff's goal when he passed to Tweedy who one timed the puck over to Big Buff. Brian had no chance.  Magoo scored the other meaningful goal.  The Meaning final was: Whites 3, Reds 2
The Whites had another
Hat trick from T&A and a pair from V-Man who almost got a blocker sandwich when he went over to give the Anvil some sympathy.  You don't want to go near Eddie when Thor is violating him.  Tommy Z and Guest Drew accounted for solo goals to give the Whites 10.  Papa Joe looked good again as he gets his 80 year old body ready for the MLF game on May 1.

Bill "The Maestro" Conti and Jim Rags Ragland each had a goal for the Reds, while Tweedy came up with the balance to make the  Meaningless score:  Whites 10 and Reds 8.

IIC does it again!

They canceled our April 16th ice, and we had no ice scheduled on April 23rd, so Mike added a week on to our season.  May 14  will be the official team picture night for the 2009-10 season.

Charity Game to benefit The Mario Lemieux Foundation

The Saturday May 1 game at 7:20 till 8:20 is officially called MLF game, (they took the I out) and Bill BTW lost interest and gave his roster his spot the Mr. Clean. (Coaches Granato, please make a note of that) Our Average age just jumped, much to the delight of the Rampage Ladies who were nice enough to feed us and fill us with beer last week. The name of the event is "MLF Night @ the IIC"
$20 to play.  There will be raffle tickets and they will be serving food
I suspect that they will cook up the frozen turkeys that they were using for stones in their curling game last week.
The ladies have added another hour of free for all hockey after our game, (The Free for all is not free)
We used to have an old Henny Youngmen joke that we used on ___. "He's so cheap, the only fight he will get in, is a free for all!"
The Duffer Baseball Outing
Sunday, June 27, offers a chance to see one of the biggest rivalry games in Chicago, the White Sox vs. Cubs at White Sox Park. The game time is 1:05 P.M.. My old school has several blocks of tickets for this "will be sold out" game. A portion of the price goes directly to help Holy Trinity.

The ticket prices and sections are as follows:
PRICE SECTION
$55 522 (Between home plate and 1st base.)
$50 520 (Between 1st base and right field)
$50 558 (Left field)

Where would you like to sit at the Cell? June sun can be hot. I know The Cell was laid out backwards, so Right field is not the Sun field and Right hand pitchers are now south paws. (St Louis screwed up their new field too. (Must have been foreigners planning those parks) Ask any American kid, you need sun glasses to play Right Field.
If you want to join us, I need to know now and I'll need the money before the season ends.  Last year I waited 2 weeks and they were sold out.

I saw this old  picture of Jimmy Buffett looking cool with his Pink Phone, so I got my Mom's old pink phone and snapped this picture.
