home video release because that version "was made from a different
print." Disney also maintained that the images were not placed in
the film by any of their animators but were instead inserted
during the post-production process. The company decided to recall
3.4 million copies of the video "to keep our promise
to families that we can trust and rely on the Disney brand to
provide the finest in family entertainment."
Claim: The photographic image
of a topless woman appears in the background of a scene in The
Rescuers.
TRUE
Origins: On 8 January 1999, Disney
announced a recall of the home video version of their 1977
animated feature The Rescuers because it contained an
"objectionable background image." That image was one which
appeared in a scene approximately 38 minutes into the
film: as rodent heroes Bianca and Bernard fly through the city in
a sardine box strapped to the back of Orville, proprietor of
Albatross Air Charter Service, the photographic image of a topless
woman can be seen at the window of a building in the background in
two different non-consecutive frames, first in the bottom left
corner, then at the top center portion of the frame:
Unlike most rumors of risqué words and visuals hidden in Disney's
animated films, this one was clearly true, and the images in
question were undeniably purposely inserted into the movie.
The two "topless woman" frames had reputedly been present in the
film ever since its original theatrical release in 1977 (a fact
apparently confirmed by Disney, whose spokesperson said that the
tampering "was done more than 20 years ago"),
although Disney claimed that they were not included in the 1992
home video release because that version "was made from a different
print." Disney also maintained that the images were not placed in
the film by any of their animators but were instead inserted
during the post-production process. The company decided to recall
3.4 million copies of the video "to keep our promise
to families that we can trust and rely on the Disney brand to
provide the finest in family entertainment."
July 20, 2014, Ice Age Vs. Wags Uncle Dan Lopatka hates the early games because it is hard to get away when the kids are still awake. He did manage to arrive at game time and he is a fast dresser, but he couldn't get out there before the first goal, because Ryan "Shamrock" McNeil set up Steve "De" Gaul* for a goal just 24 seconds after the opening faceoff. (The last time we played the Ice Age,
Carson scored in just 16 seconds.) That lead disappeared 3 minutes later when the Ice Age scored and added 3 more in the next 3 minutes!
Wags Champs and Fans
Torry Snuffy Snick stopped the bleeding
when he scored with 8:13 left in the period. The Ice Age opened the wound with a goal less than 2 minutes later.
That put the Wags were down 5-2 less than 10 minutes into the game! The biggest crowed of the year was getting restless. We had girlfriends, parents
of players, parents of girlfriends, grandparents, Duffer Fans and Jay "Roadrunner" DeMaria sitting in the stands with a broken wing. Gaul and Killer Kyle Sandowski put the crowd at ease when they scored 3 goals to close out the period with a 5-5 tie. Gaul scored unassisted at 6:15 then he set up Kyle for a goal a minute later.
Sandowski returned the favor with 52 seconds left when he set up Gaul's Hat Trick game tying goal! That sent the Ice Age into a deep thaw in the second period that belonged to the Wags as they outscored the Ice 3-0 with goals by Snick, Phil Mano and McNeil. Gaul picked up his 5th point with an assist on Ryan's goal.
Matt Swaztec assisted on Phil's goal.Mano put the game away with the first 2 goals of the 3rd period. That completed
8 unanswered goals by the Wags. The Ice Age added 3 meaningless goals in the last 6 minutes, but
McNeil, Sandowski and Gaul scored to neutralize those goals. Kevin "Smooth as" Glass scored a goal that never made it to the score sheet.
Nick Rackowski also had an assist that wasn't recorded. His slap shot hit the goalie's stick and sent it flying to the corner. An alert defenseman gave the goalie his stick, but he fanned on the
next shot with that puny stick.
The Wags won the championship 13-8.Ed
"The Wall" Waghorn made 19 saves while the Ice Age Goalie made 31. Jeff Speed Racer,Dan Lopatka, John Waghorn and his unnamed partner turned in stellar performances on defense to hold the Ice Age down to only
27 shots on goal.
