GLOBE Hydrology
Naperville Community Unit School District 203
October 14, 2005
Ms. Kouri took her 4th and 5th graders to the west branch of the DuPage River. After searching for macro invertebrates on October 13, 2005, they returned the following day to test the water. they took the GPS reading for the site, so that GLOBE would know where they were. Mr. Lopatka helped the students measure temperature, conductivity and turbidity at station number 1. They also found the latitude, longitude and altitude of the Highlands Hydrology study site. At station 2, students were testing the PH and dissolved oxygen of the water sample. The students tested for nitrates and phosphates at station number 3. When they returned to the school, they compared and averaged the data and then shared it with GLOBE students, teachers and scientists around the world, by entering it into the GLOBE Data Base. |
