Would you like to see if we can get ice in Bloomington that week end?

Let me know and I'll make a call.

Happy Thanksgiving

I give Thanks! My 5th Annual Thank You Letter.

5 years ago, when I came home from Peoria, after 24 hours of nonstop fun with old friends, young friends and new friends, I realized how lucky I was to be playing hockey at the age of 64.782 with great guys every week!  I wrote a Thank You letter that made Mr. and Mrs. Anvil shed a tear or two.  I'm sort of sorry about that, but I can't resist making a goalie cry, so here is my 5th annual thank you letter to all of the people that I have been blessed with, because of my involvement with hockey. (If you are doing the math, this should be my 6th Thank You letter, but I forgot to say thanks in 2007) I'm Sorry. If I was thankful then, imagine how thankful I am this year as I am still playing as I approach my 70th birthday.  I give Thanks for My good health, that allowed me to play over 30 fun filled hockey games last year without any pain and without any pills.  (Although a post game beer helps a lot, Thanks to Brinks and his assistant, Mini Wheezer.)  I don't even hurt on Saturday mornings.  Hockey is a wonderful game.  I won't repeat many of the things that I gave thanks for in the past, even though I am still thankful for all of them. You can read them on line by clicking the links below. I just want to thank everyone who helped get me and my family through the loss of my Mom in February.  I will try to do the same for Stump this week, as he tries to deal with the loss of his Mom.  I'll be brief this year since Dan and Tommy have a men's league game an hour from now.  I have so much fun watching those guy.  Thank You God!

Anvil Slays the Polar Bears!

Romeoville, IL 11/20/09    2 for Mini and 2 for Rags
Attendance 22

Jimmy "the Rags" Ragland got the Reds on the board when he scored on his first shift, but the Whites quickly answered with a Mini Wheezer goal.  Yes, he was on the White team!  Mike the MP Presecky scored a short time later to give the Reds a 2-1 lead that lasted until Thor the scoring machine beat The Anvil with a rebound shot that ended the period with the game tied 2-2.  Rags scored again to break the tie early in the second period and Tweedy gave the Reds a 4-2 lead when he beat the Brain to the puck and flipped it into an unprotected net that Crash Terry desperately tried to save, but he ar

V-Man cashed in his bad service coupons.

rived just as the puck hit the net and the Brain came sliding into his legs.  He flipped up and crashed to the ice with a landing that could qualify him for another Klinger Krash award.  Bill BTW got the Whites back to a one goal deficit before the 2nd period ended.  V-Man opened the third period by slipping one past the Brain to put the Reds up 5-3.  Mini Wheezer scored again to cut the lead to one goal, but Tom "Big Buff" O'Connor put the icing on the cake when he tied the meaningful score 1-1 and secured a 6-4 Meaningless win for the Reds.  The Anvil had a great game.  Beer nuts was there Friday, wondering if we needed the camper for Thanksgiving. I asked him if he was going to Nashville. He said, "I'll go if I can have Basketball Jones as a room mate." I said, Give Mike $100 and we will make sure that Tim's ashes are on the buss, but you have to pay for Tim's half of the room." You know what he said.
