The Czar Gets Offensive!

Romeoville, IL 2/4/2011
Attendance 22
Revenge of the Reds!

"Tweedy" filled in for our Blizzard weary goalie and got all of the scoring that he needed from Mike "The Czar" Presecki.  Reds dominated 2 of the 3 contests last night, winning 9-4 on the ice and 6-2 at Wild Wings. Only 2 White guys showed up at Wild Wings! Some heads turned when Beak said that a little too loud at the restaurant.  Whites did win the Meaningful contest, but I was told by several guys in

The Blizzard of 2011 kept some players busy.

the goalie locker room that nobody gives a rats ass about the Meaningful contest, so I won't mention it.  The Czar abused the Brain 5 times!  Mini Wheezer and Terry each had a pair, while Geno had the lone Meaningful goal.  Porta Johnny was credited with the assist.  Beak set up Tumblin Terry's empty net goal when he hit the far post with a turn around shot.  The Brain made a great save when the Bill "The Maestro" Conti sent Beak a beautiful off net, ice hugging, easy to tip pass, but when Beak complimented Bill at Wild Wings for that pass, he smiled and said he was shooting at the net and missed badly.  Thor had 2 White goals and GI Joe Mazzarella had 2.  T&A scored the 5th goal on a beautiful pass from Bill "The Alien" Allen.  T&A also set up Thor's 1st goal.

Here are just a few of the things that made it a memorable night:

  • The Alien shot Tweedy in the back when he was out swimming. You don't see that every day.
  • Tom "TO" O'Connor got a fat lip from a deflected puck. He continued to play and said the he would put the stitches in after the game. He decided a couple of beers would be better.
  • Thor wore his own Jersey on Friday so that he would not get slashed by guys who thought he was V-Man.
  • Thor and Mini Wheezer are friends since Mini told him it was a case of mistaken identity last week.
  • Just another Memorable night to add to the Blizzard of 2011.
  • Frank's Back Surgery is scheduled for 2/9/2011

The Rampage MLF Game had to be moved up to April 2, 2011!
The Rink has the Bauer invitational tournament that week end of April

15th, so they had to bump us up.

The Blizzard reduced the Duffer Lunch to one guy.

This is the first time the Duffers got a mention in the reporter since we won the men's league at Downers Grove Icearena way back when Tony, Donny, Brian and Ken were our teen age ringers. See Duffer Headlines page 1

See Duffer Headlines page 1 Donny Granato gave the Duffers the lead, 2 minutes later  on a slap shot, set up by Wally Kraft.
Tony Granato scored an unassisted goal minutes later to give the Duffers a little breathing room. Ken Lopatka added an insurance goal late in the game to give the Duffers a 6-3 win and an undisputed hold on first place.

Tweedy picked up a win on Friday and a 5-5 tie on Thursday in the beer league.

It was -2 Fahrenheit or -18-9 Celsius when I woke up at 7:00AM.  I like Celsius when I convert my age, I'm 21.6.  That is barely legal.

By 9:30 my snow blower broke through to the street!

I finally finished a path for my car at 10:10.

100_4448.JPG (941395 bytes)

I worked up a good sweat, even though the temperature was just over 0 Fahrenheit. That is more sweat than I get from playing hockey indoors on Friday nights.

Once I had a path to my car cleared I went for a spin.

The shopping center was cleared.

I went to Nicks to see my retired hockey friends.

I was the only one to show up so Karen rolled out the red carpet.
