Duffers Hockey News

Last week we had a coronal mass ejection (CME) that was headed toward toward Earth.  Thursday, April 12, 2001,  it reached our planet and produced this beautiful display of Northern lights. Garth Arsenault captured this picture in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Stump Gets

Bozo Buckets was e-mailed from an "Anonymous" donor.  The e-mail had an .edu source.  I wonder what Doc has been up to?

Holy Thursday 4/12/01

What do Duffers do to celebrate Holy Thursday?  They go to a Hockey rink to watch the young Duffers play and sip on a brew.   We saw some great hockey. On the way home, around midnight, We got a box of Krispy Kream donuts.
(Back row) Beak Jr.,Wheezer and Wheezer's brother. (Front Row) Stump, Knarf, Klinger and Beak.  Times have changed, in the 50s the Catholic Church was giving people a plenary indulgence if you visited 6 churches on Holy Thursday.  That's like a "get out of Hell free card"!  I got that going for me.  Back then you could go to hell for eating a hot dog on Friday.  How would you like to be doing a life sentence in Hell on a "Meat Rap"?

Scroll down to see game pictures and a link to team stats.
Good Friday 4/13/01
Eddie the Anvil picked up twin wins!  Hitman beat Stump for the only meaningful.  The Meaningless win also went to the Blues, 5-2. Tweedy supplied the meaningless goals for the Whites while Tommy, Johnny and Joe Jr. scored for the Blues.  The most memorable goal was a rebound by Joe that had him jump for joy with his stick raised, he lost his balance and crashed.

Beak's Retirement!
June 8, 2001

Put that date on your calendar and give the King a $40.00 check made out to Duffers Hockey.  That $40 will gain you admission to Beak's Retirement Party at the Oak Lawn Holiday Inn.  The King has graciously agreed to round up a table or two full of Duffers.  The evening will include a family style dinner and open bar.

The Peoria Rivermen became the first Northern Conference team to advance to the Semi-finals following Friday’s impressive 4-0 shutout at Richmond. Curtis Sanford won his 3rd straight play-off game stopping all 30 shots faced and now has a playoff GAA of just 0.900. The Rivermen swept the Renegades following their game one 3-0 defeat at Carver Arena and outscored Richmond 8-1 on their own home ice.
