The Huskies Surprise BHC in overtime 2-1

The next game was against a team that beat the Huskies 4-1 and 1-0 this season.
Coach Johnson and manager Jane Stevens offered to jump in the pool with their clothes on if the boys could beat this undefeated team from Bloomingdale Illinois.  That seemed like a safe bet at the time but when you have Dan Waszak playing goalie for you anything is possible.
The first period was scoreless, but BHC took the lead with a goal in the second.  The Huskies were able to tie it up in the third on a power play goal.   The play  started when Bobby Cascio

The Huskies Black hockey team finished off January just as it did December, with a big tournament victory.  The Huskies traveled to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin on Friday January 29th and played their first game on Saturday afternoon.  They struggled in the first two periods and never could get a comfortable lead until the game was almost over.  Their opponents came from Fox Valley, near Appleton Wisconsin.  The Huskies finally took the lead on the goal by Kirk Fronczke assisted by  Pat Callaghan.  Bryan Kozmin set up Brandon Johnson to give us a 2 goal lead, but Fox Valley came back with a beautiful goal that Goalie Dan Waszak never had a chance to stop.
Brandon scored again when  Justin Stevens set him up, but the Fox Valley team scored again to raise the discomfort level.
Jeff Adams scored an unassisted goal to regain the 2 goal lead at 4-2.
Brandon Johnson's unassisted goal gave him a hat trick.  He was not finished as he set up-Bobby Cascio for his 4th point.  Bobby capped the scoring when Peter

passed the puck to Pat McGrath at the point.  Pat fired a hard wrist shot that the goalie was able to stop but not control.  Brandon Johnson was able to poke it in to rescue the team from defeat.  The 3rd period ended with the score tied at 1-1.
Both teams were dead tired after 90 minutes of hockey in the last 8 hours.  It looked like the game would be settled with a shoot out.  Then it happened. Jeff Adams carried  the puck across the blue line and fired a shot on net, so he could get a line change.  He was exhausted, his legs were tired.
Somehow the puck found its way past the goalie into the net for a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory.
Jane and Coach Johnson jumped in the pool with all their clothes on and the kids went nuts.
The BHC goalie was seen carrying a gigantic boom box out of the locker room that was

game  Washington started to put some pressure on to make it a hard fought contest.  The Huskies finally broke the ice with a goal by Eddie Chen that was set up by Lenny Jacobs.  Jeff Adams set Pat Callaghan free with a long pass  that Pat converted into a 2-0 lead.  Lenny Jacobs gave us a 3 goal lead when he was set up by Peter Thomchuck and Joey Eberhardt.   Jeff Griffin put the game out of reach when Eddie Chen and Jeff Adams set him up for the clincher.  The Huskies  won the Sun Prairie Cardinal Cup 4-0.  Brandon Johnson was given a hat trick patch and Dan Waszak was awarded a zero patch and a was named MVP.  The Huskie players received trophies that looked like ice sculptures.

The players and fans partied late into the night and almost forgot that they had a championship game against the Washington County Bruins, on Sunday Morning.
Early in the game, the contest belonged to the goaltenders.  The Bruin goalie stopped shot after shot, as the Huskies peppered him early and often.  Dan didn't have to stop a shot until nine minutes into the
