| On Tuesday morning, July 22, 2008 The girls played a
morning game and Elaina pitched her best game of the year as she
mowed down batter after batter. She was backed up with flawless
defense. Maddie caught a great game on her birthday and was named
MVP of the game by her opponents. Caitlyn scored our only run early
with some great base running. Our great fielding and pitching made
that run stand up until 2 outs in the final inning. Maddie made a
dive for a foul ball that would have ended the game, but it rolled out of
her mitt when her face crashed into the chain link fence. Elaina
still got a batter to hit a grounder, that would have ended the game, but
the throw got away and 2 runs scored.
After a lunch, we followed that pitcher's duel with a slug fest that saw the lead change hands 3 times and we came up a little short, 8-6. Michelle was named MVP by the opponents.
