I remember that Coach would always keep us laughing. I remember Dave Sheedy bet him $10 that he could get to the street faster than a sheet of paper that was dropped from the 3rd floor window. Coach Miz said he would give him a 10 second head start, so the bet was made and the race was on. Dave sprinted down the stairs and ten seconds later, Jim balled up the paper and threw it out the window.. Several seconds after the ball of paper hit the ground, Dave flew out of the door looking up for the floating paper. When he saw the ball on the ground, he said, "ah Come On" We all laughed as coach Miz said, "You can owe me. Dave". Dan Lopatka, Class of 1988
I am one of Jim's sisters and I would like to thank you for the tribute you made to my brother...He was an incredible man...I've known that for awhile but it was confirmed today at his wake...Seeing all the lives that he had touched left me speechless...And then to see this web page totally blew me away...He will be in all of our hearts forever…Thank you again Jim's sister Cathy
Thank you so much for putting this web site together ,as jims sister I am blown away at the number of lives he has touched. We have always teased him that we couldn't go any where , where someone didn't know him. He has not only touched and made a memory in our family, but he has made many people his family, because of the memories from others like you. Thank you, coach MIZ"S sister :Sherry
ANOTHER THANK YOU FOR DOING SUCH A WONDERFUL TRIBUTE TO JIM. WHAT A GREAT
TRIBUTE. JIM WAS MY COUSIN. AS CHILDREN WE GREW UP CELEBRATING
ALL THE HOLIDAYS TOGETHER. THERE WAS 15 IN CHICAGO (AND 3 MORE IN CALIF.). AS
YOU GROW AND START YOUR OWN FAMILIES YOU DON'T SEE EACH OTHER AS MUCH AS YOU
LIKE TO (WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS.) JIM HAD STOPPED OVER LAST MONTH TO PICK UP
PICTURES TO BRING OUT TO OUR DYING AUNT IN CALIF.SHE WAS THE LAST OF THE 5
SISTERS AND WE ALL TOOK IT HARD KNOWING OUR MOMS GENERATION WAS
GONE. HE PUT TOGETHER JUST LAST MONTH A MEMORIAL MASS AT ST. RITA AND GAVE A
GREAT SPEECH HOW WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION AND HOW THEY ARE ALL LOOKING DOWN
ON US. WE HAD A NICE LUNCH AFTERWARDS AND JIM EVEN TOOK PICTURES OF ALL OF US
TOGETHER (THANK YOU FR. MCCARTHY). OUR NEXT GET TOGETHER WOULD TO BE OUR
FUNDRAISER MEETING WE ARE PLANNING FOR JIM'S HANDICAP NIECE. HE MISSED THE
1ST ONE BUT SAID HE WOULD BE AT THE SECOND WITH LOTS OF IDEAS. well, WE WILL
GO ON WITH JIM NOW LOOKING DOWN ON US AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL MAKE HIM PROUD AS
WE WERE ALL SO PROUD OF HIM. I REMEMBER HIM COMMENTING TO ME ON MY DAUGHTER
WHO COULD SAY HER OUR FATHER AND HAIL MARY AT MY MOMS FUNERAL. HE HAD SUCH
DEEP FAITH. HIS WAKE MAKES YOU THINK OF YOUR OWN LIFE (WHO HAVE I TOUCHED OR
MADE A DIFFERENCE TO). JIM WAS ONE OF A KIND WHO TOOK HIS LIFE TO MAKE A
DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD HE LIVED. THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW US HOW ONE PERSON
CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. HE WILL FOREVER LIVE IN OUR HEARTS. I WAS HONORED TO
DO THE SECOND READING FOR THE FAMILY. REMEMBER KEEP THE FAITH AND EVERYTHING
ELSE WILL FALL INTO PLACE. OUR PRAYERS WILL BE WITH MARY, ALL HIS SISTERS,
NIECES, NEPHEWS AND ALL THE LIVES HE TOUCHED.

I want to thank you so very much for this tribute you have set up for my brother
Jim. A beautiful tribute to a wonderful man!! I knew my brother had touched many
people in so many different ways, but I was totally over whelmed at all the people
that had come to pay their last respects. I am two years younger than Jim, and
growing up behind him was sometimes difficult. I always called Jimmy "Mr. goody
two shoes" cause I was quite the opposite. Everything I did looked worst because
I was a girl and "Jimmy never did this". I love my brother very much and he was
a big help to me over the years raising his two nephews. Just a week ago we were
all here enjoying Christmas. Although I am very hurt and angry and filled with
sorrow, I am so glad we had that holiday together. Jim was a great, good, loving
person, so much more than I had ever realized. I have always been very proud of
my brother and all of his accomplishments. Even if I hadn't told him that. I looked
up to him as a strong, caring individual and knew that he would always be there for
me, no matter what. Thank-you to you and everyone else that was part of Jim's life because everyone out there had a part in making Jim the great person he was. I love him and always will. He will be missed greatly.

>Hi, My name is Lori and I am Jim's youngest sister. I wanted to thank you for such a wonderful tribute to my brother. Jim is also my godfather, and being the youngest of 6 kids, I have always looked to Jimmy as a father figure. I will miss him more than I could ever put into words. My heart hurts not only from sadness, but from anger and confusion. Now that the wake and funeral are behind us, I realize how many people Jimmy has touched in his short life. I am truly proud to be his sister, and grateful that as we grew older, became much better friends. I smiled as I read the pages you wrote about my brother. As I met with and spoke to the many people that were in his life, from St. Rita, Andy Frain, High school, grammar school, etc. I learned so much more about my brother, and I thought I already knew a lot about him. I am proud to be Jim's sister, I always have been. The love and friendship I saw from everyone just made it more clearer to me of what a great man my brother was......Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for such a fitting salute to Jim. Here is a photo of him, I have many. Thank you again and God bless!!!!!!! Very Sincerely, Lori
