3 Hats for the Polar Bears

Romeoville, IL 12/29/08
Attendance 21
The Red Bears Win the 2nd Period!

The Whites jumped all over Dave the Goalie for 5 first period goals, while the Brain was tossing a shut out.  Rich Storm started the scoring , then Brinks, Hacksaw, Art and Geno quickly joined in on the fun.  Beak spoiled the Brain's  shut out when he finally missed the goalie and hit the far post  He then poked the rebound in to make the score 5-1.  Brinks scored again 4 minutes later, but TZ answered that to give the Reds a 2-1 second period lead, unfortunately, you have to play 3 periods.  The Reds made a move to add some scoring punch, when they moved Bill BTW up to forward.  That worked for 3 goals, as TZ, TO and

The Duffer Winter Classic is here.  What will you bring?

BBTW each scored to give the Reds 5 goals.  (2 Meaningful)  The Reds had to rotate 3 defensemen and Special Ed had his hands full rotating with Fruitcake and Koss.  The Whites had fun in the 3rd period, as Brinks, Art and Geno picked up Hat tricks and T&A added a pair.  To make the final 12-5 and 7-2 Meaningful.  The foggy weather may have frightened a few Duffers away, but Art made the 2 hour drive.  Frank missed his first game of the year, leaving only Beak, Bookie and  Stump with perfect attendance:.

1 year ago, Special Ed was on crutches.

I had to bring out this Fun Tax Logo that Mike made using Berserk as our Male Model for fun.

Be prepared to pay a Fun Tax on Thursday when we honor Tim Smith.

NEW YEAR'S EVE: What a way to end the year. On Dec. 31st, Venus and the slender crescent Moon will gather together high in the
southwestern sky for a beautiful conjunction visible for hours after sunset. The two brightest objects in the night sky can be seen through city lights
and even fireworks--so everyone can enjoy the show. Meanwhile, closer to the horizon, Mercury and Jupiter are converging for their own
Dec. 31st conjunction. This one is not so easy to see, but rewarding for those who make the effort to find the two planets shining
through the rosy glow of sunset. Visit http://spaceweather.com for sky maps and photos of the converging planets.

I took these pictures after sunset on December 29.  Venus is near the top and the crescent Moon is just above the garage.  The Moon will move half way to Venus on the 30th and on New Years Eve, it will form a beautiful conjunction with Venus.

Click on the above picture to see the full resolution, then zoom in on Venus and you will see that it is not round, because it goes through phases just like the Moon, but we can never see a full Venus from Earth, because we eclipse the sunlight when it is in that position

I ran these for Bill BTW, who had never seen Klinger on MASH.

A few years ago we saw the above picture and thought that it helped us understand why we don't understand women.  My sister sent me a more complete diagram of the female brain and this one helps us misunderstand women even more.

Last Friday at the Bar, I mentioned that I think of Tim every time I take a shower

   tim-beak.jpg (84218 bytes)

Beak is laughing here, he doesn't know he has a few bruises that will show up in the morning when the beer wears off. Tim consoles Beak by telling  him that he is lucky that it was his shot and not Tweedy or Jeff's shots that hit him. I looks worse than it is and since he scored a goal, it was worth it.  Besides that, Beak's right hip is all metal since July 2005.
