Goalies Were on their Game!

Thor got the Whites off to an early lead when he one timed a pass from Tom "Dimples" Zagorski.  The Reds were able to bounce back from that goal with goals by Tom "TO" O'Connor and Terry "Crash" Nance. Terry fired a shot off line that Fred "Fruit Cake" Bobka deflected past his own goalie. (Tweedy)  TO gave the Reds a 2-1 lead a few minutes later when Tweedy came out and blocked

a hard shot from Geno "Cyclops" Cromwell. Tweedy was swimming out in the slot as he tried to control the elusive puck.  TO dug the puck out and poked it in to give the Reds the lead.  Kevin "Monkey" Rench tied it at 2, early in the second when he beat the Anvil on the stick side low.  Dimples set up Brinks to give the Whites a lead that they would not relinquish.  Brinks scored again when Dimples passed to Tom "T&A" Ambrosia.  T&A set up Brinks in the slot for a shot that rang up the cross bar.  The puck bounced off of the iron and went down and out of harms way until The Anvil tried to grab it and knocked it in to make it 4-2.  That goal turned out to be the game winner.  Geno tried to hit TO with a pass that Klinger tipped in past Tweedy to cut the lead to 4-3.  V-Man ended any hopes that the Reds had, when he answered that goal with a shot from the point in the closing minutes to give the Whites a 5-3 win.  They also picked up the Meaningful win 3-2.  They missed a sweep when they fell one short at the bar, 6-5.   Tweedy and the Anvil had excellent games, making many saves, including one on a  T&A break away.  Tom crashed into Eddie while going at break-neck speed.  He flipped and did a 180 spin and landed on his back inside the net.  Thor gave him a score of 9.  He stuck the landing, but he did not point his toes.

The Anvil turns 56!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDDIE!  The Anvil gave Beak a check for Pittsburgh.  When we were in Dubuque, watching Brian Kraft play in the late 1980s, the fans would chant, "Holy Molly We have a goalie" whenever their guy made a save. Well, Holy Molly we now have 2 goalies for Pittsburgh. That will be one less chore for Tony. (Finding us a goalie for our Friday morning game could be a chore) Our Pittsburgh goalies have an average age of 32.  The Anvil is 56 years old and our rookie goalie, Dan Smith, is 18.  Dan was played a great game in the Metro North All Star High School game on Sunday. He only allowed 1 goal.
The Rampage Women are making plans for our MLF Game!
Details are on page 2

MLF Game is April 2 at 7:00 PM
After our win last year, I promised the Rampage Women that I would invite only Duffers who were over 50 years of age.  After watching their A team, I suggested that they add a few C players that were Duffers WODs (Wives of Duffers) and DODs (Daughters of Duffers).  That way we can add Terry and the Bookie to our roster, so that they can have a family feud that night and Eddie's Daughter can score on him.  They also offered an Age Discount to Mini Wheezer they must think he will make us easier to beat.
E-Mail from Maria
Ladies, Coach and Duffers
Just passing along my notes for MLF nite. You guys have the ball from here.
MLF APPROVAL. Once the flyer is set it must be sent to the Director of the MLF to let them know what we are planning to do. Last year they approved our use of their logo on our flyer and sent a box of t-shirts and baseball hats for our auction table. It's just a courtesy but we need to do this. I have the contact email addresses, etc. so LMK when you're ready to launch and I'll make liaison with them.
ICE.
Ice is set for April 2nd, 7-9pm. Try to ensure the ice is on the American rink -- dead center as you walk through IIC's doors.
FORMAT for GAME(S). Coach Steve has great ideas for format/use of the timeframe. Getting families involved, etc. The more bodies through the door, the better. Greg Lopatka is our contact on the Duffers. His email is g.lopatka@comcast.net and he is vital to setting up a game with that team. Last year the Duffers were crazy generous and absolutely wonderful in helping out with this event. Keep Greg in the loop.
GOAL. Last year we raised $3000 in 2 hours. It would be nice to surpass that.
FLYER. Last year's flyer is on our website at http://www.rampagehockey.org/news-detail.cfm?news_id=754A54F9-A569-F86A-D679A2454709E1EC
You just need to decide how the night's going to run and draw up a flyer in .pdf.
ADVERTISING. Sending an email to groups like Rocky Hockey and the WCHL are just two ways of spreading the word. Having every Rampage player hang 2-3 flyers in a coffee shop is another.
We have a connection to a local newspaper through the Duffers, so get with Emily Hawrysio and ask her to have her Dad hook us up.
I have broadcast email capability through our website. Keep me in the loop and I'll help get the word out.
PHOTOGRAPHER. See email below. Just make liaison with Mike Baron at mbaron@mjbimages.com and he'll come out. He takes pics and makes his $ when people buy them off his site. My sell to him was that as women, we LOVE having our pic taken, especially if it's one of us in a flattering hockey pose. We need a good picture to send to the MLF for inclusion on their Mario Mosaic.
MUSIC/LOUDSPEAKER. Not being able to thank people for coming or to explain why we do this to the crowd, is a show-stopper. Make sure the person in charge of this actually checks to ensure the system is a "go" BEFORE the event.
IIC. If you need to make any requests of IIC that cost $ -- using their conference rooms, borrowing tables, chairs, elongating the ice time, switching rinks, etc. - let me know beforehand. In the past we've had Rampage skaters make demands on IIC management that strained our relationship and I'd rather they only deal with me when it comes to anything Rampage-related. As it is, they are giving us $650 of FREE ice for this event, so we have to respect that.
Finally, Tina said she'd handle the BBQ afterward, Robin, Sherry, Valarie, Erin can handle the auction table. Vicki's another one who's great at organizing an auction table. Lee Ann has real-world experience in doing montage videos, etc. and has a lot to offer in the planning of an event like ours.
That's all I have -- call me if you guys have questions 630-450-2242. This is a cool opportunity to do something very cool for a great cause and I know you guys will make it awesome.

Maria
