Hat Trick For the Maestro!

Romeoville, IL
June 8, 2012

Attendance: 14

Fast paced 4 on 4 Game!

Whites 6: Reds 5

Another poor turnout forced The Bookie and The Maestro to bring out the respirator because they never came off of the ice so that the forwards could have 2 lines in the four on four game. Terry "Crash" Nance scored twice as he had his son Dillon showing some speed and stamina. Nick tried hard with many break-aways, but he couldn't beat Tweedy who made some great

The Maestro skated 90 minutes and never sat down but he got his first Duffer Hat Trick.

saves to throttle the Reds.  Nick did get an assist when he set up Kevin "Monkey" Rench.  Kevin asked if we could come up with a better nickname than Monkey. Beak said, "How about Curley?"  Beak scored an incest goal when Geno went behind the net and moved from the left side to the right side with the puck.  As Tweedy looked left, Geno went right and put a pass right on Beak's tape.  Beak one timed it through the 5 hole.  Rags started the scoring when he fired a shot past rookie goalie Jimmy Bones.  Brinks lit the kid up twice.  The second one knocked the water bottle off of the net.  The Czar had the prettiest goal when he fired a slap shot into the two hole.  That turned out to be the game winner.  The Maestro ended his long scoring drought with a hat trick! Beak told him, "You picked a bad night to get a hat trick, you know I'm getting the headline for scoring on my son."

Memorable Moments

  • Hacksaw is back in town and he got us a picnic permit for September 22.
  • Beak's Comcast e-mail was hacked so he is putting the Duffer Group back together. (Enjoy the e-mail silence)
  • Please bring some friends to the July 13th  game.
  • We are accepting nominations for the Klinger Krash Award.

A Picnic Committee meeting date is being selected as you read.

Tweedy picked up the 6-5 win.

Summer Laughs!

Tweedy made me laugh when he was watching Michelle play softball. He saw a younger team on the field next to us and 7 of the 9 players were wearing masks.  Tweedy said, "Wouldn't it be cheaper to teach them how to catch?

A former student wrote the following on the Randolph School Facebook page:

I remember asking "What is the Internet?" Mr. Lopatka taught me how to use it right in that Science Lab. I have a secret....LOL... I thought he created the internet!!!

Former Duffer Bob "The Geek" Friedlander rejected my invitation to have him bring the Stanley Cup to the Duffer Picnic on September 22, 2012.  He was still mad about something that happened when we played in San Jose in 1999.  I told him to breathe in, breathe out, move on.  He felt better and sent me a nice reply.

Good deal. Yeah, I guess the best thing according to religion "is to forgive."
I Always dream about skating with the Duffers again as I grew up with you guys and had such great times.

Rags displays his autograph from the Maestro.  The Maestro's Hat Trick was added to the Duffer History page.  That is the first entry since February when Joe "Drago" Evans created the flashing puck. Please visit the history page and see what is missing.

Nobody was perfect this year, so Beak will keep the Tim Smith Award for another year.  We are looking for nominations for the Klinger Krash award.  The 2 Steves had a good Klinger Krash on opening night, but winner must be present and that is unlikely.

Beak and Klinger went to Moline to watch some U-18 Softball games. Klinger was a good roommate, but he screwed up the coffee.

The only room available was one with one king sized bed.  That confirmed rumors of them being a couple.
