Tweedy Shines Like the Moon!

Romeoville, IL
September 21, 2012

Attendance: 18

2 goalies show up with the Harvest Moon Lurking!
The Anvil avoided playing on the eve of the Harvest moon, so Stump was able to get Tweedy to fill in for him.  The Brain ended his hold out and gave us 2 goalies. The Bookie started the night by complaining to Beak because he didn't write about a shot that he blocked 2 weeks ago! Beak can't even remember who scored on Saturday morning and that is why He sends out a n e-mail asking for goals, assists and memorable moments.  T&A is the only Duffer who sends help when he plays.

The Brain had a hard time staying awake as those shots were crawling in.

On Saturday, Klinger and Beak went to Michigan City at 8 in the morning to watch Michelle play softball. Michelle had a bunt single and stretched a single into a double. She was on drugs as she was recovering from a Streptococcus infected throat. Klinger remembered tripping over the blue line and having a headache. Beak remembered having 2 six minute shifts in the second period and 3 five minute ones in the 3rd. They both agreed that they are too old to play games like that.  Here is what I remembered about Friday's game on Sunday morning:  (I forget a lot in 2 days)
I remember drinking a tall German beer after the game thanks to Brinks!!
I remember wanting to play a 4 on 4 game since we only had 8 skaters on each team. 2 lines with fast line changes is the way the game should be played. (especially for Duffers like us) The Bookie complained and begged for a 5 on 5 slow paced game where players play Harvey style hockey with 5 or 6 minute slow paced energy saving shifts. Defensemen know it is easier to defend tired guys, but he forgot the Whites had 2 high school kids who never slowed down. They did pass up many scoring chances to set up old guys. Hats off to them, their Dad taught them well.  Tweedy loved the game as he was able to see 70 plus shots, but he was too tired to go to the bar after that game. The Brain almost fell asleep waiting for the Reds to fire a shot at him. He also was too tired to go to the bar.  He said he was retired.
Joe "Drago" Evans had a memorable goal where he beat Tweedy with a toe drag move (That is what Rags said at the bar) Brinks, Berserk, Terry and Lil Bill also scored. Nick was the only one to beat the dozing Brain.
The Czar was in Germany and TZ stayed home because he was tired from Thursday night where he had to play some young studs with only 3 subs on the bench. He was wishing they could have played 4 on 4.*

* TZ called in sick later with the Hershey Squirts.

The perfect attendance count dropped from 13 down to 7. The following Duffers have perfect attendance:
Beak, Bookie, Brinks, Mr. Magoo, Nick, Crash Nance, and V-Man .

Tweedy did a nice job filling in for Eddie.

When I first started calling the Maestro's son Lil' Bill, I was thinking about the above extinct Little Bill.  When I searched for an image, all I found was Lil Bill Cosby (Right).  Sorry Bill

I told Jurata that we brought Boris here for a cleavage stress test.

Frank and Harvey chose not to look at the cleavage.

Luke got the celebrity treatment at the last Cub game of the year thanks to Luke's authentic 1960's Ernie Banks full uniform. (We bought that uniform for Ken when he was 5.) They gave him a signed ball, a certificate and they were sent to marketing dept. office to take his picture. Dan got tickets for $2.00.
