Harvey Drops the Bookie!

Romeoville, IL
December 7, 2012

Attendance: 25

Nick the Prick and t&a turn Tricks!
We had a fast paced game that looked like it would be a one sided win for the Whites, but a combination of poor shooting and great goal tending by the Anvil made it a close game.  There was a shift in the first period when the Whites looked like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. They had shot after shot that went too high, way wide right or way wide left while Harvey, Geno and Beak scrambled around for 2 or 3 minutes, just trying without success to get the puck out of the zone. That shift mercifully ended when the Bookie shot wide left, but Kevin "Meat" Rench  redirected it past Eddie.  I'm sure the Bookie will say that was an accurate pass

Tom "TO" O'Connor makes a clean pick as Klinger looks disgusted.

and not another wild shot.  Down at the other end, Tweedy had a hard time staying awake while the Whites were dominating the play.  Tom "T&A" Ambrosia had an easy goal when Brinks fired a beautiful pass from the right wing.  Tommy Z finally woke up Tweedy when he snuck one past him.  Nick the Prick picked up a puck that The Maestro let slide. Bill thought the Prick would pass it to an old guy, but Nick lived up to his moniker and poked it into the uncontested net.  Beak told Tommy "t&a" Ambrosia that he had permission to answer that goal, so he did on the next shift.  Nick added 2 more goals, so t&a had the green light to get a hat trick too.  Beak said, "It sure is nice to have a teenager who listens to you, just tell him to score and he does."  Meat assisted T&A's second goal. That gave the Whites 5 goals.  TO had the only Meaningful goal of the game when he roofed a backhander over Tweedy's right shoulder.  Mini Wheezer pokes a puck  that eluded Tweedy after he made a nice save on TZ.  V-man had to move to center when Geno pulled a Brian Urlacher earlier in the game.  He scored on a break away before t&a scored the game winner.

Reds 7, Whites 6                      Memorable Moments

  • .Harvey's scoring streak came to an end, but he did put the Bookie on his back during the game and that may have won the game for the Reds because Tweedy couldn't stop laughing.
In the 2nd period, "Rookie of the Year, "Greg Z, picked t&a 's pocket to assist Nick's goal.

Memorable Moments Continued

¨ Drago was happy with not scoring because the scoring streak was putting too much pressure on him during the holiday season.

¨ Geno Pulled a Brian Urlacher when he went down with a pulled hamstring.

¨ Koss showed up and swelled the attendance at Wild Wings.

¨ Mini Wheezer is back for a while. The Brain stayed home and avoided him again.

¨ The "Kids’"  locker room was filled with banter and laughter. Most of it directed at Mini-Wheezer. Fat jokes, Ho Hos, & Twinkie comments were directed his way. His current weight was debated. He claims to be 255 lbs, other guestimates were at 282 – 300. It was great to have him out with us again.

¨ Jim Smar (Bill BTW's friend) showed up with Rick "Gilbert" Fellman's #33 Jerseys.  Beak missed a photo opportunity to get a picture of Tom "TO" O'Connor with #33 and Jim wearing Gilbert’s #33. That has to go into the Duffer History page since we never had the same numbers on opposing teams with different names.

A Tribute to Stump

Stump won the Klinger Krash Award in 2002 and was always one of our most dependable Duffers since we first started playing 40 years ago. In 1994, He was the first non royalty Duffer to receive the King's Meaningless trophy. He has been missing this season, even though he keeps supplying us with goalies.  People have been asking about him, so I thought we would do a tribute to him.

Stump and Uncle Bob have always been a favorite target of Rich Storm creations.

Stump didn't let a hip replacement keep him away too long.

We had a great time when he turned 50.  He was the first Duffer to win the Tim Smith Perfect Attendance Award after Tim in 2009.

Stump never got carded when he was underage, but he did when he was 40 years old!

Stump won "Best in Show" award 2 years ago.

He even showed up in a shot glass when Uncle Bob got a Hat Trick.
