Great Game, Great Family Fun!

We Gave Thanks!
Some 3rd-4th generation Duffers got introduced to the wonderful world of Duffers.  Beak had to give the "Wally Talk" to the 5 year olds.  38 years ago when Tweedy was 5 and wanted to be a Duffer, Wally Kraft picked him up and stood him on a bench so that he could look him in the eyes and give him the Duffer Locker room protocol.  Wally told him the following:  "If you want to be a Duffer, you can never tell your Mom or your teacher what you hear in here!"  Jake Z and Cal Berserk

3 Dads, 3 Sons. T&A, t&a, Cal, Berserk, Greg and Jake

got the same speech from Beak after someone said a "swear".  When we went out on the ice, Beak took pictures of all of the dads with their kids during warm ups.  The goalie locker room couldn't find any coconut rum and pineapple juice (We miss you Stump) so they substituted maple flavored Crown Royal.  It was sort of like having pancakes.  Greg Z started the scoring when he executed a quick wrap around to put the Whites up 1-0.  Berserk answered that with a blast that eluded the Brain's glove.  T&A and his son t&a each added goals for the White team once the maple syrup wore off and the Anvil sobered up.  Mini Wheezer and Tommy Z got those goals back to tie the game at 3 goals apiece.  Then V-Man scored and Eddie was steaming when Drago blew one past him to give the Whites that dreaded 2 goal lead.  With the clock winding down, Chris Berserk gave the Reds life when he beat the Brain with a beautiful redirect.  With 1 minute left till team picture time, Beak gave Nick DeJesus a pep talk.  Beak said, "Your beautiful girl friend, Alexis, is in the stands waiting to cheer for you and your Dad will have a miserable Thanksgiving if he loses 2 in a row, so get us a goal."  Nick went out there and zigged when their defenders zagged until he was in all alone on the Brain.  That's when he flipped a hard shot into the top corner.  That goal sent everybody over to the boards where Alexis took the team picture. .  Final Score: Whites 5, Reds 5

Memorable Moments: 

  • Tommy Z blocked a Rags shot from the point.  Tweedy said, "They're serious.  They are blocking shots!" TZ said, "I was trying to get out of the way and it hit me."

Only : Beak, Terry, Fruitcake, and Hacksaw. have Perfect Attendance.
