	Crooked Stix get Straightened!

October 23, 2014, Crooked Stix Vs. Wags

Wags took on the Crooked Stix for a late night game. They were going for their 2^nd straight win. The Crooked Stix lived up to their name when one of their defenders had the blade of his stick fly out of the zone. Instead of dropping his broken stick as the rule requires, he fired it up and into the netting behind the goal. The broken shaft stayed there until Jeff removed it on his way home. He found out that it was a one piece stick and no longer good for anything other than a tomato stake in his grandpa's garden. The game was scoreless for the first half of period one with both goalies playing shutout

	hockey until Jay "Roadrunner" DeMaria took a pass from Speed Racer Jeff and scored with 7:26 left in period one. Five minutes later, Mario "Verizon" Verzillo scored on a pass from Garry "The Inhibiter" Hibbler to make it 2-0 with 2:48 on the clock. Thirteen seconds later, Crooked number 11 scored to cut the lead in half. Less than a minute into the second period, the same guy wrapped around the net and tucked the puck into the corner to tie the game. That was a wake up call for the Wags, as they went on to score 6 unanswered goals. Jay scored six minutes later to take the lead back. Ryan "Bara" Kuta took the ensuing face off and teamed up with Torry "Snuffy" Snick to make it 4-2. Torry scored a short handed goal while the Wags' "PK" crew was killing off a penalty for having too many men on the ice. Bara Kuta scored his second goal when he teamed up with St Patrick and Jay to make it 6-2. With only 15 seconds left in the game, Wags put a fork in the crooked Stix when Torry scored his second goal. Jay picked up his Hat Trick early in the 3^rd period and scored a 4^th goal later in the period that rattled around in the net, but the referee was not paying attention, so they played on. Torry answered a meaningless Crooked Stix goal when he scored with 25 seconds left and picked up his Hat Trick with a goal that went in and out of the net so fast that I would have forgiven a referee if he missed that. The fi


	nal score was Wags 9, Crooked Stix 4. The Wags put 50 shots on goal in 45 minutes. Ed "The Wall" Waghorn made 20 saves. The score keeper had writers cramp and recorded 9 of the game's goals as unassisted. He failed to give Paul Mano Manno, Kevin "Smooth as" Glass, Jeff "Speed Racer" Lopatka and Tony "The Tiger" Letto assists that they deserved. Monet Mike hopes to win an award with this tattoo at the next convention.	We had a black and blue night. My grandson Mike showed up with a bruised nose that his 5 year old son Lennie gave him with a high stick in the driveway. Barron was playing with a new Tattoo on his knee (Left)
Barron was presented with the puck that he scored his first Duffer goal with.	Maybe I'll let Mike give me this Tattoo when the Cubs win the World Series.
