Shut out for The Anvil

Romeoville, IL
January 6, 2012

Attendance: 30

Three Full Lines to start the Year!
Having three lines  produced a fast game with many shots on goal, but The Anvil had lady luck backing up his fast glove.  The Whites hit the post a few times and Brinks fired one past Eddie, only to have it go wide of the net.  Brian had a fine game too, but he was victimized by some speedy youngsters.  He got off to a rough start when Beak fired a bouncing pass to his grandson Jeff "JLO" Lopatka, who  managed to onetime

The Game Puck

the bouncing puck past the Brain. Tumblin Terry Nance made it 2-0 when he scored on a nice pass from Mini Wheezer. Beak had another assist when he fired a blind turn around shot toward the net and his grandson redirected it in for a 3-0 lead. Tom "Butt Head" Morgan tapped one into a wide open net to get Tommy Z, Art and AJ to kick it into high gear.  Eddie had to face a flurry of shots in the third period, but The Anvil was solid and his defensive quintet did a stellar job of clearing rebounds out of the zone.  The Reds were rotating 5 defensemen and Eddie was quick to give credit for his shut out to his Fab Five of Bill BTW, Butt Head, The Maestro, Rags and Stump.  Jeff picked up his hat trick when he roofed a shot that knocked the Brain's towel off of the top of the net. Lil' Bill made a great cross ice pass that Nick the prick tipped in the last minute of the game.
First Shut Out since October 1, 2010;
Duffer Shut outs are rare, because duffers rarely play defense.  Dan "Tweedy" Lopatka had the last shut out 15 months ago.  Brian had one just 2 weeks before that.  That shut out broke a 6 year drought.  The Anvil last had a shut out on April 30th 2004, when he gave credit to his defensemen Perry Lea and Uncle Bob, who blocked a Ben Oskroba Slap shot by falling down in front of a shot that the Anvil didn't want to face.

The Czar is looking into pushing our Columbus Bus trip back to March
We will be able to see the First Round of CCHA Tournament in Columbus. (See the schedule below) Ryan will be playing Michigan outdoors in the Frozen Diamond Faceoff (Progressive Field) on January 15 in Cleveland.

Next week we play on Friday the Thirteenth!

(4 days after a Full Moon )
