The Anvil was Stoned, but he won!

Romeoville, IL
January 4, 2013

Attendance: 19

MVP goes to Bill BTW!
Brinks missed his first game, so Beak had to deliver the Strohs. Without Brinks, The Whites  had to depend on Thor for their only meaningful goal.  Reds won that contest 2-1 when Beak and O'Connor scored for the second week in a row.  Bill BTW brought some of his excess Christmas Crown Royal and waved it in front of the Anvil's nose while we were waiting for the Rampage to finish their game.  Eddie caved into the temptation and chugged a few hits.  Bill BTW lit him up for a hat trick in the first period.

Stump was back and blocked a lot of shots

The Whites had Jimmy Bones in the net and he appeared to be sober even thought he celebrated his 18th birthday on Thursday.  Jimmy was on fire while Eddie was getting lit up. Jimmy stoned Nick the Prick a number of times.  The Bookie, Nick's Dad, had the scoring touch and had two goals for the Reds late in the first period, but the Reds were down 4-2 thanks to BBTW's Hat trick and Greg Z's first goal.  Greg scored again early in the second to put the Whites up 5-2.  Mini Wheezer and Tommy Z scored to get the Reds back in the game, but Thor made it 6-4 while the Anvil was trying to sober up.  Nick finally got one past Jimmy Bones midway through the third period. Beak tied it late in the game when TZ sprung him for a break away when he fired a 100 foot pass.  Berserk quickly caught up with Him, so Beak slammed on the brakes and cut to the middle where he fired an ice hugger that eluded Jimmy when he dropped to a butterfly position. The puck got through to the back of the net.  (It may not have made it to the back of the net, but it did cross the goal line) Bill BTW asked Harvey if he tipped that shot and Harvey said, "I think so." Bill awarded the goal to Beak at the Bar when Harvey failed to show up.  Tom "TO" O'Connor scored the game winner a few minutes later.  Nick scored a meaningless insurance goal in the final minute to give the Reds a thrilling 8-6 meaningless win and a 2-1 Meaningful Win.

Memorable Moments

Greg Z and the Bookie had a Klinger Krash.  No one got hurt until Greg tried to help the Bookie up and he pulled a Hammie.  TZ also had a KK when did a beautiful impersonation of Terry and did an unassisted flip and stuck the landing. Stump showed up with DVD video of the Duffer Train trip to Lake Placid in 1982.  That will help our Duffer Historian document that trip. Beak got some complaints that when you go to the Duffer Road Trip link and click on Lake Placid, the only thing that comes up is the Lake Placid Team picture.

Thanks Stump!  I watched the Video and have 2 pages of  funny stuff.  I noticed several guys had nice 35 mm cameras on that trip, so there should be some pictures somewhere.  Back in 1982 Stump had a goalie bag just for his video equipment.
