No  Goals But we had Beer!

Romeoville, IL
March 22, 2013

Attendance: 20

No Meaningful Goals!
After scoring 5 meaningful goals on March 8 (Comet Night) there was only one Meaningful goal in the last 2 weeks.  This week was dominated by teenager goals, as they scored 6 of the 9 goals.  That is not the Duffer WayRags, Bill BTW and the Maestro were the only drinking aged duffers to score a goal  The pace was very fast and I realize that the teenagers get tired of waiting for old guys to join the rush.  I was happy to see Lil' Bill Conti do his best Tommy Zagorski imitation when he flew into the

Team Hayward 1997..

attacking zone then slammed on the brakes and waited for some duffers to enter the zone.  Then he passed to an old guy who didn't score. I know that is frustrating, but that is how you have to play if you want to be a duffer.  Eddie the Anvil and Tweedy both tossed Meaningful shutouts. The Reds won 6-3 because they had twice as many teenagers as the Whites. T&A got an assist for a turn over that set up Rags' goal.  When he tried to get the puck back, Harvey put him in a headlock, so he would have received an assist if he had been at Wild Wings, but he went straight home as did The Czar and Tweedy.  The Maestro had a nice goal when he sailed a wrist shot past Tweedy.  I don't remember how Bill BTW scored, but I'm sure it was a beauty that I quickly forgot.  Maybe I was talking when he scored and I missed it, but T&A remembered it.     Reds 6, Whites 3.   Meaningful Score, Whites 0, Reds: 0

  Memorable Moments:

  • Harvey came back
  • I found some more Hayward Pictures
  • Ryan Dzingel scored the only goal in their loss to Notre Dame in the Joe Louis Arena.
  • Don't forget the April 6th fund Raiser for Ryan's Dad, Rick, who is undergoing treatment for cancer.
  • You can send a check made out to Rick Dzingel to West Suburban Bank, 711 S. Westmore Lombard, IL 60148
  • Nick scored a goal in the Rampage Fund Raiser game.  Only 8 skaters showed up for the firemen because they were hit by injuries and illness, so Brandi drafted Nick I watched 2 periods and their head hunter did not fire any head high slap shots. Nick scored again, but they lost. They did get a donation that was close to the $600 we gave them last year. The MLF Game was changed to "Rampage Saves Night."
  • The event was changed to Rampage Saves Night because, they wanted the option to help multiple charities every year instead of being tied down to one.

  • There was no cook out or beer, so I went home after "Shoot the Puck." My wife wondered why I was home 4 hours earlier than past years. Cook out was cancelled due to Canland's policy. (Buy Beer and food from them only.)
I made some additions and corrections thanks to Brandi, my favorite goalie. (They are in blue text)
