Hat Trick for Porta-John!

Romeoville, IL
9/30/2011

Attendance: 21

Tweedy has a Rough Start!
The Reds scored early and often on Tweedy, who played 2 games in a men's league benefit tournament earlier in the day.  Porta John scored on a Tommy Z rebound to start the early onslaught.  John scored again on his next shift with an assist from Mini Wheezer. Geno made it 3-0 with a steal and a breakaway to beat Danny with a sweet move. TZ picked someone's

pocket and got a breakaway goal with a laser past Tweedy. V-Man scored from the point on an assist from TZ to give the Reds a 5-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game. The score could have been 5-5, if The Anvil wasn't playing a great game.   T&A finally broke the Anvil's shut out early in the second period. Hacksaw was credited with the assist. The Bookie sent T&A off to another break away to cut the deficit to 3 goals. Reds 5 and Whites 2 after two periods.  The way the Anvil was playing, the game looked like it was another Red win, but Kevin "Monkey" Rench scored early in the 3rd period to get the Reds a little tighter.  Thor was given the assist. The Bookie sent a seeing eyed puck from the point through a slew of legs right past the Anvil to make it 5-4.  Ron "Doc" Dubreuil scored to tie the game on a back hander after he stole the puck. With 5 minutes left to play, Porta John saved the day and finally ended the scoring drought to get his first Duffer Hat Trick!  Tommy Z set up the apparent game winner with a beautiful pass.  With the fans counting down the final seconds of the game, Kevin Rench threw a Monkey wrench into the Red machine when he banged a rebound past the Anvil to give Tweedy and the Whites a 6-6 tie.  The Reds won the Meaningful contest 1-0, but dropped the Wild Wings Night Cap 7-6.
