March 8-11 Columbus Trip

The Duffers are going to Columbus March 8-11. It is not too late to join in.  Give Mike a $100 and you can join in the fun. The trip will be very affordable. The price goes down with every seat we fill.  It is a "Write Off!"

The Hollywood Casino in Columbus will not open until we leave town. That will save us thousands. See Itinerary below.

MLF Game is on Saturday, April 14, 2012

Duffer News Number 666!

Romeoville, IL
February 17, 2012

12 Goals less than last week!
Our goalies bounced back and had spectacular games. The Whites had more off side violations than they had goals.  They were off side 3 times in less than a minute!  The Whites got all of their goals from Lil' Tommy, until Tommy's Dad put one into his own net for the game winner. (V-man got credit for the gift)

4 goals for the Ambrosias

The Reds had a hard time beating the Brain until T&A fired a shot from the point that Stump redirected past his own goalie. Joe "Drago" Evans continued his dominance over the Brain scoring his 6th goal in the last 3 weeks.  Although 2 goals per game is a great rate,  a graph of his production in a CEO's Board room would have him on the carpet.  Big Business doesn't like a downward trend that looks like a 3, 2, 1 countdown.  It looks like you need another Hat Trick to keep your job Joe.  Nick the prick finally freed himself  form his frequent molestations and roofed a shot over Brian's shoulder.  Nick is learning more hockey since he became a Duffer in Training.  Beak has been telling him to pass the puck before he is in trouble.  He learned the hard way when he went into the corner and had a chance to pass to a trailer, but he decided to stick handle and toe drag his way out.  The Czar clamped down on him and pummeled him until he coughed up the puck.  Nick toe dragged his butt over to the bench, but he never complained.

Memorable Moments:

  • We had a Canadian hockey player trip over the Red line.  Bill BTW never recovered from that fall.  He pulled a Freddie and went straight home. He did not pass Go and he didn't get the 200 laughs at Wild Wings.
  • Cowboy Joe had a Klinger Krash into the Anvil.  He said he was pushed by his brother.
  • We had too many Mazarellas on the ice and I mean laid out on the ice.  Papa Joe took a lickin and kept right on tickin.
  • Nick got punished several times for speeding. Stump and the Czar gave him the business whenever he tried to finesse his way past them.
  • Thor had many chances, but he flubbed them all except for the one that hit the post.

Duffer Trivia was added to the Duffer Web site on Friday the 13th in January 2012

This week's Duffer Trivia Question

  • What year did the Duffers win the Downers Grove Men's Summer League Championship? Who was the goalie? Name some of the players.

  • What year did the Duffers win their second Men's league Championship? How was this different from the first championship?

  • When was “Wheezer” Clementson added to the “King’s Meaningless Trophy”? What is his first name?

I got some complaints that the trivia questions were too hard and they made people read. Try these.

  • What is Harvey's first name?  Bonus points if you can give his last name.

  • When is the next Friday the 13th Game?

  • Who was the first SOD to become Meaningful?

Trivia answers from February 10, 2012

  • What was the most goals scored in one game by a Duffer?
  • Who was that puck hog and what year did that happen? Beak, age 40, scored 10 goals in his first game after completing the DuPage college hockey course in September of 1980.  He got an A.
  • Who scored back to back open net goals? When? On September 29, 1995, fifty five year old Beak set a Duffer record when he hit the open net from his own zone with 3 seconds left to play.  Beak ended the 9/22/95 contest with an open net goal from the neutral zone.
