Two for Harvey and Magoo!

Romeoville, IL
March 23, 2012

Attendance: 23

Five Meaningful Goals
Magoo got the Whites off to a great start when he lit up the Anvil early in the first period. When he scored another one, it gave some guys a piloerection and it looked like the  Reds were doomed because Meaningful goals have been few and far between since Geno and Brinks have been on the IR.  Crash Nance rattled the Brain with a meaningless goal, then he fired a shot/pass from the corner that Harvey redirected past the Brain to tie the score and cut the Meaningless score in half.  Harvey then got a break away and Tommy Z slowed down and let Harvey take the shot so that he could get the rebound, but Harvey beat all odds and beat the Brain with his short stick. (See the picture on the right) Harvey told us that he uses the short stick in the first and second periods, then he switches to the longer one in the third period when he has less energy.  Tweedy added a goal to give the Reds a 4-2 lead.

Harvey reveals his  goal scoring secret.

Beak scored the Meaningless Game winner when he one timed a pass from T&A.  The shot rattled around between Brian's goalie pads then it trickled out and rolled across the goal line. Berserk beat the Anvil with a screen shot to make it a 5-3 game.  Nick added 2 meaningless goals then T&A capped off the scoring with a gymnastic one and a half gainer after he cut across the crease.  He didn't stick the landing, but he was able to flip it past the Brain.

Memorable Moments

  • Harvey scored his 4th goal since March 18.  He beat Tweedy twice in Columbus.
  • Last week Beak stated that when a guy over 60 has a break away, his chances of scoring are the same a winning the Pick Four Lotto.  Harvey blew those odds up with a break away goal.
  • Nick was trying to pass again, but he scored twice by accident.  He looked ashamed.  He is starting to get it
  • Geno is hoping to play next week.  Brinks tried on his skates, but he is not ready.

I have $300 of the $500 needed for our participation in the MLF Game, please pay me on Friday.

Harvey was tired of getting teased about his old road trip sweaters, so he brought out his 15 year old tee shirt.
