Only 3 games left to go!

This is the 500th Duffer Newsletter!
The first Duffer Newsletter came after a March 28, 1994 game in Hayward Wisconsin, where a group of Duffers stunned a much younger group with a 12-3 win.  That team should have beaten us badly, but Stump had his best game since Lake Placid.  We did have some younger guys helping Wheezer, Beak and Harvey, but one of the young guys was Chris "Bersrek" Mazurk who was just learning how to skate.  You can view that newsletter at: http://www.lopatka.net/hayward94/index.html

Who will get the Klinger Krash Award this year?

Shoot-out at Bolingbrook

22 goals created an 11-11 tie.  The Reds led most of the game, but the Whites got a last minute goal.  Hacksaw wanted a shoot out, but the Zamboni guy was in a hurry.  No one was pushing for it since the Thanksgiving shoot out debacle was still fresh on out minds.  The Maestro had a beautiful tip in of Perry's shot.  When he was questioned if he tipped it in, he said, "I didn't tip it in, it hit my stick." (Only a Duffer would say that)   Magoo scored the only meaningful goal when he banged in a great pass from Brinks to give the Whites a 1-0 Meaningful win.  It looked like Brinks scored on a pass from his son Rob, but he denied and said it was Rob's goal.  There was a Hockey first, when 2 goals were scored in less than 5 seconds.  That has been done before , but not 1 goal by each team without a whistle!  Art blew one past the Brain, but the puck came out so fast that Hacksaw never blew the whistle, so Kevin picked it up and fired it past The Anvil.  After a discussion, 1 goal was given to each team.  Goalies were great, they faced a lot of rubber.  Stump had 5 pad saves and one glove save while he was playing defense.  Nick and Kevin had most of the goals.   Scott Had a nice goal from Aj and Kevin.  Special ED had  2 .  Rich Storm suffered an injury in the parking lot when he tried to open the Pepsi that Brinks brought for Fruit Cake.  Fred almost took his finger off drawing the only blood of the night.  Everyone else enjoyed a beer from Brinks.  Thank You Don!

Who Didn't Pay?

The waiter came up to Mini-Wheezer, The Anvil and Beak with 2 unpaid bills.  Please make restitution on Friday. Clark, The Canadian Hockey Goalie, In celebration of the beginning of MLB, here's a terrific short by George Plamondon, seen here

Now that I left Fairbanks, it is in the 50s. The snow is almost all melted and there is water running on top of the ice near the tripod on the Tanana River in Nenana. When I was in Alaska, people were placing $2.50 bets on when the ice might "go out"? Here is the article from the local paper: http://newsminer.com/2007/04/18/6533/
