 I managed to get the guys together for a picture after a tough loss. They lost the exciting championship game that had teams exchange the lead several times. |
 There were several swastikas on the walls of our locker room. I mentioned that the swastika was a symbol of good fortune or well being well before Hitler turned it into a symbol of hatred. I told them that my dad's 80 year old Macgregor 5 iron that had 2 of them etched into the club for good luck. The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being." The motif (a hooked cross) appears to have first been used in Neolithic Eurasia, perhaps representing the movement of the sun through the sky. To this day it is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. |
