Hat Tricks For Mike "The Nailer" DeVivo and Super Dave!

October 5th
Friday's game looked like it would be a one-sided blow out when the Whites showed up with 6 Meaningful players and some young guns like Roger, Johnny Z, Berserk, Beavis and "The Prince".  The Blues only had Tommy Z and Rick "Bad Back" Dzingel to center a strange bunch of wingers.  On the right, the Blues had the slow skating, swift changing trio of Super Dave, Uncle Bob and Mini-Wheezer.  The left side was heavy with even slower skating, slow changing meaningful wingers. Beer nuts, Beak and "The Nailer.
What happened that night has never happened in 31 years of Duffer history and will never ever happen again.  Mike "The Nailer" DeVivo, normally a stay at home defensemen, beat Gary "The Ghost", not once, not twice, but Three times for his first Duffer Hat trick.  On the right side, "Super Dave" Sullivan was busy scoring his first Duffer Hat trick to give Eddie "The Anvil" a twin bill win.  3-1 meaningful.  Hitman may have had a meaningful goal, but I found out that he was credited with a hat trick in the September 28th Duffer News when Uncle Bob scored 2 of those goals.  That means the 3-3 meaningful tie that night is now a 3-1 White win with the Game winner going to Beak.  Tweedy was responsible for the false report. Each time Uncle Bob scored, he yelled, "Way to go Hitman".  The Duffer reporter was busy telling stories on the bench and never dreamed his son would try to take goals away from his friend UB and deprive his dear old dad of a game winner, but that's the way it happened. The Defence, led by Rick Storm and Fruit Cake did a fine job helping The Anvil keep the guns from scoring.
Peoria Roadtrip
Kevin Granato is a member of the Peoria Rivermen.  It looks like we can get 10 players to go to Peoria on Saturday November 17. If we go on the 17th, we can see a Sunday afternoon game on the 18th. If you are not sure that you want to go to Peoria, just pop the Duffer CD II into your CD-ROM drive and watch the Peoria slide and music show, you will sign up for a trip as soon as you finish.

A message from Jimmy Buffett as he canceled three concerts.
To all our fans I would simply say do what you can in this serious and tragic hour, from donating blood to talking to your children. Lord Buckley, the great old hip comedian, once said, “Terror is the absence of humor, and humor is the absence of terror.” Our sense of humor is one of our most precious natural resources as Americans, and  we will put this tragedy behind us and dance again. And  when we do, Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer band will be there to lead the parade. Until then, keep your fins up and
           God Bless America.
