t&a Turns a Trick to Win it!

Romeoville, IL

Goalie Shortage Drama!
Stump called Beak on Thursday night and said, "We need a goalie for tomorrow." After that great on line tribute to the goalies, I thought we would have goalies begging to play, but Brian was the only one willing to play on Friday.  Beak sent out a call for goalies that night.  He got a reply from Brandi at 4:01 AM asking for the game time.  She had a conflict with 8:40.  Dave the Goalie, who never plays goalie replied that he was working on it, so did TZ and Bill BTW.  Beak finally talked his niece into letting her son Dan play.  Dan was recovering from a concussion that he suffered playing for Bradley University.

Number 1 star of the Game was Linda (goalie Dan Smith's Mom) for bringing the boys.

We had a nice turnout with 2 full lines again.  The game was fast and the sides were even. Nobody was able to score until late in the first period when Beak drew 2 defenders to him then poked a pass to Bill BTW who was wide open. He walked in for a "Duck Soup" (czarnina) goal. A few seconds later, Bill tipped a slap shot from the Czar past his own goalie. Bill went into the Duffer History book for scoring a goal for each team in less than a minute. The Reds regained the lead when Beak thought he set up BTW for another goal, but Brian made a great save.  Tommy "t&a" Ambrosia pounced on the rebound and flipped it over the Brain's brain.  Early in the second period, Thor tied the game at 2 when he took a pass from Tommy Z and beat Danny Smith in the 7 hole.  Bill BTW gave the Reds  a 3-2 lead  with an assist from Harvey, but Nick the Prick tied it again with an unassisted goal in the closing minutes of the second period.  Nick then set up Thor's second goal to give the Whites their first lead that lasted until t&a tied it with an assist going to Magoo with 9 minutes left in the game.  It looked like the game would end in a tie until BBTW set up t&a's Hat Trick with 1 minute to play in the game.  The Whites pulled the Brain and mounted a frenzied attack, but Pittsburgh Dan  kicked out every shot to preserve a thrilling 5-4 win. T&A said he enjoyed playing defense with Chris Smith, because he covered his errors with his speed.

          Memorable Moments

  • Thor had a Klinger Krash that featured his signature javelin toss of his stick
  • Another big crowd at Wild Wings.

  • Stump Tribute generated 91 hits and the Tribute to our goalies is more than half way there.

In 1978, Slimedog sent this unapproved Duffer Jersey to TV star, Ann Jillian and she sent us an 8 by 10 glossy of her with the Duffer Bear on her chest.  We came up with this logo when the King moved his family to Wisconsin and Wally, Frank Fred and Slimedog ran the Duffers with a styrofoam fist.  Bob "The Geek" Friedlander was eager to sell us anything that we would buy.  He talked us into buying White Travel Jerseys in addition to the Red and Blue jerseys. Beak designed the logo by flipping the Montreal Canadian logo and converting it to a "D" with a magic marker.  The road trip Duffers quickly gave Bob the money he asked for.  Read More...  You can see the guys that bought those jerseys in  The 1979-80 Team Picture and the Lake Placid Team Picture. Only one guy in the 79-80 picture did not have the new jersey.

Ann Jillian.jpg (1028284 bytes)

Ann Jillian (born January 29, 1950) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Cassie Cranston on the 1980s sitcom It's a Living.

Ann Jillian was born Ann Jura Nauseda in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1950, although some sources mistakenly cite 1951.[2][3] She was born to Lithuanian immigrant parents and speaks Lithuanian fluently.
She has been acting since 1960 when she played Little Bo Peep in the Disney film Babes In Toyland. Jillian appeared as Dainty June in the Rosalind Russell-Natalie Wood 1962 movie version of Gypsy. She had several television appearances in the 1960s and 1970s, notably becoming a regular on the 1960s sitcom Hazel (1965-66 season) and appearing in the 1963 Twilight Zone episode "Mute" (credited as "Ann Jilliann") as the mute telepathic Ilse Nielson. In 1983, Jillian was honored by the Young Artist Foundation with its Former Child Star "Lifetime Achievement" Award recognizing her achievements within the entertainment industry as a child actress.[5]

Post Christmas Lunch is at the Woodridge Tilted Kilt on Wednesday December 26, 2012. Klinger will be 71on January 10, 2013.

At the 1988 Emmy Awards

Jillian appeared in more than 25 films, mostly for TV. Though she had nearly two decades' worth of film and television credits already, she first came to national prominence in the 1980s series It's a Living, a sitcom that elevated Jillian to sex symbol status in 1980. She was last to be signed onto this series and received last place billing. The show aired for two seasons on ABC before being cancelled due to low ratings and was sold into syndication for the burgeoning cable TV market.

Toward the end of her time on the series for the ABC run, she portrayed Mae West in a 1982 made-for-TV film. The supporting cast included James Brolin, Piper Laurie and Roddy McDowall. Jillian was nominated for a lead actress Emmy and Golden Globe for her performance.[7]

In 1983 she appeared in the John Hughes movie Mr. Mom with Michael Keaton and Teri Garr. The same year she appeared in the mini-series Malibu, starring Kim Novak, Eva Marie Saint and James Coburn. That fall she starred in her own sit-com, Jennifer Slept Here, in which she played a ghost in a variation on The Ghost & Mrs. Muir. By this time It's a Living had become a surprise success in syndication.

December 4, 2012 SAN FRANCISCO — A new storm system made its way Tuesday through already drenched Northern California, prompting renewed flood concerns in parts of the region. Rain had been falling along the coast and inland areas, but the heaviest rain was expected early Wednesday. Coastal mountains could see as much as six inches of precipitation before the storm moves out on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said. These storms, aptly and more technically known as atmospheric rivers, bring huge amounts of moisture across the Pacific. They are narrow bands in the atmosphere that funnel moisture from the tropics into more northerly latitudes. Over the course of several days, or even longer, the moisture in the system is dropped on a wide area and can potentially cause flooding and reservoir overflow, as has happened in some West Coast communities with the current system. That system also brought strong, hurricane-force winds to some regions and dozens of inches of snow to others.

December 7, 2012 New Duffer Guest of Bill BTW, Jim Smar, showed up with Rick "Gilbert" Fellman's #33 Jerseys.
