The Ken and Steve Duffer Cookout

We ended the season with a cookout as we did last year.

Steve and Ken were warned that when you do something 2 years in a row, it becomes a Duffer Tradition.  (Like the Season Ending Team Picture)

Duffer Tee Shirt Male Model Night was held outdoors.

15 different Duffer shirts are displayed in this picture.  We spiced up our Male Model Picture by adding 2 gorgeous blonds.

The 2015 Duffer Picnic will be Saturday June 27th.

With Tommy’s house under construction, Mr. Granato has offered to host the picnic at his home in Plainfield.
We will have a committee meeting to set up picnic duties next Friday June 5th.  @ 7:00pm @ V-Man’s home.

3 Straight Wins for Barron!

Romeoville, IL May 8, 2015  Attendance: 28
Another great Duffer season is over. Thanks to the Czar for all the effort that goes into running the Duffers!
Extending the season one week turned out to be a great idea. We had a semi great game followed by a great cookout thanks to Steve the Hammer and Commander Ken. (Mini Wheezer's sad face too) We learned that you should never let Tom Skilling change your plans. His noon predictions had us getting soaked and dodging bolts of lightning .

Another Great Season!

Steve and Ken set up a big tent that never got wet. We were able to take our Male Model picture that covered the rich Duffer Hockey history with shirts. We also got our first team picture that included the Duffer banner. We had 5 dads with their sons in the picture and one Grandpa (Beak) with his grandson Mike. The game featured Steve "The Hammer" making his Duffer debut as a goalie. Bill Barron picked up his 3rd straight win after several tries. Art took the opening faceoff, raced in and scored on Steve. I would have told him, "No cookout for you!" (Art showed no sympathy and scored again later.) The Whites welcomed Steve with 2 more quick goals by Greg Z and Cupcake Bobka. Tommy Z finally got the Reds on the board with a goal with 2:25 left in the first period. That goal got the Reds going in the 2nd period when Beak, Tom Z, t&a and Joe Mazz III scored to give the Reds 5 goals after 2 periods of play. Unfortunately the Whites scored a few of their own to keep their lead going into the final stanza. Doc had a memorable goal in the 2nd when Steve left the net unattended when he thought the puck left the zone. Steve looked like he went out for a smoke as Doc tapped the puck into the open net. Doc scored in the 3rd period with Steve in the net. T&A to filled in the other goals. I remember Berserk hitting the crossbar, but I don't know if he scored. The final score was Whites 9, Reds 5 with Dan (Bird Man), V-Man, Lil Bill, & RobZ  picking up goals for the Whites. Thanks T&A!
Mini Wheezer had some fans in the stands. His friend Brian who made the Detroit trip shortly after heart surgery, brought his hot wife along. The players on the Red bench were distracted and lost their focus. Someone said. "Who is that?" The answer came from another ventriloquist "She must be in the wrong rink."

Memorable moments: (on Page Two)

Memorable Moments:

It was great to see Brinks who came by to say hello before the game. Jake Zerkis did a great job dropping the puck for us. He was a quick learner after Beak gave him a quick lesson in puck dropping. Beak invited the Brain and Jen to our cookout, but his sister replied that he was in Hayward Wisconsin. When asked if he was strong enough to boat a Muskie, she said, "He was doing well, but not well enough to fight a Muskie." She thanked the Duffers for keeping him in the loop.  Papa Joe called Beak on Saturday morning to apologize for not showing up for the Male Model picture. (He had promised that he would wear his 25 Silver Anniversary shirt) He offered to get his sons and grandsons together for a shirt picture, but Beak told him that he let Doc wear his 25th Silver Anniversary shirt. He laughed when Beak told him that Doc refused to take the shirt off and he wore it home and promised to return it when it was washed. The only shirt that needed to be washed was my Toronto shirt that Terry dropped in a puddle.

Brinks is back from Florida and stopped by to say hello.

Klinger Krash Award: Send Beak your nominations

Perfect Attendance: Fred finished the season with Perfect Attendance, but he failed to qualify for the Tim Smith Perfect Attendance Award that requires 95% attendance at the bar.  Fred never showed up at the bar, even when Landry was buying. Tim would not approve. We will try to award Fred the "Fred Bobka Imperfect Attendance Award" for the second year in a row if he stays long enough for the awards presentations at the picnic.  (Last year he left early and winner must be present)
Beak just missed qualifying for the prestigious Tim Smith Award.  He had perfect attendance at the bar but missed one game in November when he went to Detroit with Doc, Klinger and Grandpa Ken to set up the Detroit Road Trip.

Beak's Memorable Moments

Beak fired a one timer wide right in the first period. Then he hit the post with a redirect of a pass. He got his Anthony Lewis stick on a blast from his grandson, but it sailed high and wide. He fanned on a wide open shot in the slot. The air pressure pushed the puck several feet toward the net, so He pulled it back a little and flipped right up and onto Barron's mask. He finally ended his string of misses when a nice pass from t&a skipped over Terry's stick and He was able to finally get one past Barron.

The Tim Smith Award

It looks like Berserk had stuffed cabbage of lunch.

Can you name  3 Duffers who have earned the Tim Smith award since Tim won it in 2006?

Who will win the next Klinger Krash Award?

Did you have cabbage for lunch?

Hey Chris, Where did TZ go? He doesn't like recycled cabbage.

Jake did a great job dropping the puck.

Lets line up for the Team picture.

Thanks to Detroit Brian for taking the picture.  Brian offered to give a deposit for the 2016 trip to Detroit.  We like fans that cut cost of a bus trip.

We started Male Model night on May 1st at the Tilted Kilt. We had 5 road trips represented. (Left to Right) Arizona 2008, Pittsburgh 2011, Green Bay 1995, Las Vegas 2003, Columbus 2012.

(Left to Right) Bowling, 25 years, 40 years, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Bowling towel, Las Vegas, Arizona,  Green Bay, MLF, Detroit and Toronto.

Mini Wheezer was doing an Internet search for a Peter Puck image and he found this image of the Czar taking a slap at Peter.  Mini Wheezer wants Monet Mike (Right) to tattoo Peter on his body.

No Duffer qualified for the Tim Smith Award again.  Beak missed one game in November and Fruitcake never went to the bar.

I am accepting nominations for the 2014-15 Klinger Krash award.  I have 5 nominations so far.
