Our 44th Season

My Great Grandchildren helped their Mom create this beautiful wreath. It looks like Monet Mike married an artist.

The Duffers will watch the Redwings play Boston on February 14 then we will play in the Joe Louis Arena on February 15, 2016. Total cost will be $245.00 for Bus, Redwing ticket, Tee shirt, ice rental, bus beer and snacks.  You and your roommate (s) pay the room cost.  $109 plus tax includes a free breakfast.

We have room for a few more skaters and 7 spectators on the luxury bus.

Busy Weekend in Detroit

We have 3 full lines and 4 goalies who will go either way as needed.  I have deposits from 28 of them and have promises for more. I have 43 tickets to the Redwing/Boston game, so if I cut off skaters at 35, we will have 7 tickets for spectators.  Bus leaves Yorktown on Saturday February 13 at 9:00 and returns Tuesday afternoon/evening February 16.

No One Scores 8, Barron Wins!

Romeoville, IL October 2, 2015  Attendance: 19

I like 3 lines, 2 lines is OK, but we had less than 2 lines. Every time I came in to catch my breath, another panting Duffer was coming in for rest. The Anvil locker room guys had so much fun telling stories and finishing all of those extra beers that they got to the Kilt after the cooks went home, so they had to go to Wild Wings begging for food. We did give them some of our fries and onion rings.
I remember very few goals. I remember Berserk scored first when he faked his line mate Hacksaw into going into the attacking zone, but Chris made a circle and then crossed the blue line as Boris was trying to get out of the zone. Chris Barron, our 8 year old referee put the offside goal on the board as he gave Boris a senior discount for trying to get back on side.  I remember the final score was Whites 9, Reds 7

Carm Loves Hockey!

White goals: Doc had 2, Birdman had one in his new #97 jersey. He was thrilled with that number because 97 is the last Prime Number under 100. (There are 25 prime numbers under 100.  Do you have one? Magoo and Maestro  do) Dan went on to say that that is his first jersey with his name on it.  I suspect that he was in the mall on Saturday showing off that beautiful Duffer Jersey. I can picture him saying to the chicks, "Yea, I'm a hockey player, but I never got out of the East Coast League, but I scored a game winner for the Duffers last night." Berserk had one or 2, The Czar may have had one or two, and BBTW may have scored one or 2. I don't know scored the rest of the goals.

Red Goals: V-Man had 3, I think Rob Z had 2 in his new #44 Jersey, The Maestro scored 2. Tommy Z may have had one, but that would give Reds 8. I have no clue who scored.  I miss T&A because he remembers who scored. He may have been at Wrigley watching Jake throw smoke. His brother Joe sent a picture from there.

Memorable Moments:

The Romeoville Crime lab rejected Beak's hockey pants because they failed to fit in the rape kit box. Beak dropped all charges against Fruitcake.
 Magoo became a Detroit "Definite Fershur". Fred showed interest in going too when we told him we would show some 3 stooges movies on the bus.  His son John would love to go on his first Duffer Road Trip with his new prime number jersey. Cowboy Joe and Steve A gave me Deposits and Boris became a "Definite Maybe" when he said that he may give me a check at lunch for him and his neighbor John.  Joe will bring a Slap Shot DVD.

Doc, Birdman Dan, Tommy Z, Maestro Bill, Beak, Barron, Boris, Steve Hammer and Fruitcake.

* The last Road trip that Boris was able to make was in 2010 when the Czar asked Boris if he could see his credit card.  Mike had a new smart phone and unsuspecting senior citizens were unaware of the power that they had when put in the hands of a cyber smart youngster.  The Czar booked a flight from Florida on the date when the bus was leaving for Nashville.  Boris told his wife that he had to go because he was scammed.

Hey Beak,

  Good to hear from you.
  I am doing quite well, thanks.
 I will be back in the nets soon..... As long as I have not been traded yet.  I went skating about a month ago and had no problems. I have been back at work since the end of August, and have been wanting to stop by and see everyone, but we have been up north quite a bit. Jenn and I are heading up to the cabin on Friday for 10 days to hang out with some friends and close up for the season. Once we are back, I will come out and skate a bit during warm ups to see how I feel with the gear on. Who knows, maybe ill take a few shots too. As long as I feel good, I am hoping to be back in late October or early November. I think I will be fine, but I just want to feel it out first.

We had a scare last week. Believe it or not, Jenn ended up in the hospital with 2 strokes. Hers came and went, and when they took the mri, they found that she had had several small ones. They think she has a problem with her heart that caused it, and they did find a hole in her heart but they are going to leave it be for now. They implanted a heart monitor into her chest so they can keep an eye on it. She is doing well and back at work today. This is not our year!

 Say hi to everyone for me, I miss you guys and I will see you in a couple weeks when we get back in town.

The Czar just did the math for all of the active Duffers and found that the Mean (Average) age was  53.3 years on October 8, 2015.  That means Rags and Berserk are now meaningful!  I don't think they should be meaningful since they skate like they are only 50.  
The Mode (Most Frequent) was 45 We have Four 45 year olds.
Median (Middle) was 53 Terry and Rags are straddling the median.
 
We have a 8 birthdays just past or coming soon.  My Grandson Monet Mike will be 31 0n October 9, Tommy Z just turned 45 on October 5th.  Check the list and start sending cards or beers.
