Mazurk goes Berserk!

Romeoville, IL July 8, 2016  Attendance: 22
Memorable Moment:

When I walked into the Kilt, Courtney ran up to me with a thank you hug for the card and the votes that helped her get picked for the 2017 Kilt Calendar. Those of you who were at the June game signed a Congratulation Card for Courtney. She was not there that night, so I mailed it to her.  A little later, Courtney came over to our table and hugged each guy for voting for her. (I think she was happy that only 3 guys showed up that night) Dena, Our regular waitress matched Courtney's hugs for the Duffer trio.

The Game: Whites 8, Reds 5
White goals: Berserk had 4 and Lil Bill had a highlight reel goal that he scored with Jeff hanging all over him. There were 3 other goals that I forgot, and only V-Man claimed one at the Picnic. The

Four Generations pictured here.  Beak, Son Ken, Grandsons Jeff and Mike and great grandchildren Carmela and Lennie.

Whites had 3 SODs (Jack Kroll, Bill Conti and Dylan Nance) who played Duffer style hockey passing to old guys whenever they had the puck.

Red Goals: Doc had 2, (One was a Back door tap in on a pass from Speed Racer Jeff.  Barron and his defenders were sure Jeff would pass to his grandpa, so Doc was all alone).  Jeff, Monet Mike and Tim DeGuest each had one. Barron played a fine game to pick up the win. A big "Thank You" to Dan Ice Man Smith for driving 90 minutes after work to get his goalie pads and another 90 minutes to get to the game. He was looking forward to skating out until Stump sent out a goalie alert on Friday morning.

There were a couple of Funny Falls, but none were Klinger Krash worthy.

Commander Ken and Ryan say Thank You

Beak - Please consider including the below picture and a big THANK YOU to all the Duffers who were Ryan's largest support group for this very expensive team.

Courtney and Dena thanked us for showing up.

Magoo was presented with the Klinger Krash Award by T&A.  Normally, the recipient of an award is usually happier than the presenter, but this award is special.

2001 Beak  had his skate blade snapped off by Super Dave’s stick.  The plaque was created

2002. Stump became the first Duffer to win the Klinger Krash Award for his triple flip

2003. Frank took a tumble in warm ups and hit his head

2004. The Alien got a concussion and was given the award when the Brain was late.  The Brain had a crash with Mini Wheezer and would have received the award if he had been there on time.

2005. Mini Wheezer did something spectacular.

2006-Thor had 3 self inflicted spectacular crashes in March, where he threw his stick into the air, then he caused play to stop for laughter breaks.

2007-Hacksaw had several ugly spills where he landed on his head, while serving as a Duffer Referee trying to avoid Klinger Krashes that players usually incur.

2008-Maestro had a Klinger Krash that occurred when he was flipped upside down by “The Bookie”, who slammed into him.  The Krash stopped action while players laughed for several minutes!

2009-Terry "Crash" Nance For averaging 4 Klinger Krashs per game, some assisted, some unassisted, some are spectacular, while others go almost unnoticed.  The Terry Krash-O-Meter was named after him.  This is the first year that there were no other nominations!

2010, Nashville Tennessee -"Joe Face Plant" Evans For a painful Klinger Krash in Nashville when he planted his face on the ice while dropping the puck for a “Face Off”!

2011- March 4th  between periods Tom Zagorski leaned against a door that was not there and tumbled backwards out of the rink. We laughed until the puck was dropped.

2012-February 3rd: V-Man suffered a mysterious self inflicted Klinger Krash. No one touched him, but Mini Wheezer was spotted on the bench poking a pin into a miniature V-Man Voodoo Doll.

2013 March 15th Geno bloodied his nose and rattled his eye on Berserk's shoulder. He came off, wiped the blood off of his shield, took his eye out and wiped it off then returned to the ice.

2013 Dylan Nance was given a Mini Klinger Krash award for getting crushed by his Dad.

2014 October 25, 2013
: Bill lost a coin toss to Rags and had to play goalie.  After making a kick save, he had a fall to the ice  that caused a laughter break.

2015 March 9, 2015: Just one day after a great game in the Joe Louis Arena, Tom  made a rush up ice at break neck speed and forgot to stop.  He finally came to rest  when his kidney met the left goal post.  Berserk also had a award worthy crash that day, but Tom’s crash took the cake!

November 13, 2015: John had a Friday the 13th collision with his center Rob Zivalich. Magoo ended up in the net with Rob on top of his twisted knee.

Our summer fun started with Co-Ed hockey.  Dock, Monet Mile, Birdman Dan, Olgie and Beak had a lot of fun.

When the Hockey ended, Beak got talked into a 12 week Beer and Brat bowling league. Mrs. Beak has high series scratch.

The Duffers have lunch every second week at the Woodridge Kilt.

Courtney was picked for the 2017 Tilted Kilt Calendar.

Only 3 Duffers shower up at the Kilt after the July game.

Courtney and Dena were happy to see us.

Beak, Klinger and Frank went to see the Cougars.

The Cougars won 5-2
