Duffers Hockey Schedule. 

We have no ice on the following dates: 

January 20th, 2017 (Badgers play U of Minnesota at 7:00)

January 21st (Badger Women play at 1:00 Men play at 5:00)

January 22nd (Badger Women play at 2:00)

Let Beak know if you want to go. We have 12 guys going to Madison so far. Chose;  1 game 1 night, or 2 games 2 nights.

Remembering Basketball Jones!

When December rolls around, I can't help remembering what a treasured Duffer that we lost a few years ago when Tim went out in the cold for an evening jog and never came back.  I have a page that shows some of our favorite memories with Tim "Basketball Jones" Smith.

We had a great 8 on 8 game that went back and forth until the final buzzer.  Monet Mike put the Reds up early with a rush up ice.  He normally would pass to his grandpa Beak, but he was late arriving and Mike can't resist scoring on his buddy Bear.  Beak assisted on Greg

We had a great Pizza Party thanks to Rob Ziv.

Z's  first goal (He was on the other team) Beak deflected a pass that was going wide right to him and he scored the first of his 3 goals.  Beak made up for that blunder by scoring on a low shot that Fred screened Barron.  Joe "Drago" Evans answered Greg's hat trick with a Trick of his own.  Berserk and Tommy Z also scored for the Reds.  Commander Ken scored for the Whites, but I asked for help on the other goal scorers and got none.  The Czar, Terry, Dylan or Rob Ziv may have had one of the other goals.  The Anvil picked up  his second straight win for the Reds.  Final Score: Reds 7, Whites 5

Memorable Moments;

Dylan had more falls than his Dad
Commander Ken had 2 Klinger Krashes. The one with Berserk was most memorable. 
A Great Pizza Party.  Almost everyone showed up.

Joe "Face Plant" Evans AKA Drago, has come a long way since 2010 when He had a painful Klinger Krash in Nashville when he planted his face on the ice while dropping the puck for a "Faceoff"!

(Above) Tim won a Blazin' Tee shirt at Wild Wings for finishing a dozen.  His picture hangs at Wild Wings.

(Right) I was complaining to Tim about his clearing pass that hit me in the leg.  He made me laugh when he said, "You're lucky you didn't get hit by Tweedy or Jeff!"

Joe "Drago" Evans History

Many Moons ago, Bill BTW married  Joe's sister and the soon became friends and Joe had to listen to stories about his Duffers Hockey team.  Joe got invited to go on the next trip and he had so much fun that he vowed never to miss another Duffer Trip and he decided to learn to skate for the Nashville trip. He didn't know how to skate, but he thought he would stay on the bench until play stopped and then he could go out and drop the puck for faceoffs.  He managed to do that successfully a few times, but then he had a very unpleasant yet funny event on his last faceoff. He slammed the puck down just like he saw the referees do on TV, but this time he fell flat on his face and received his first nickname.  He became known as Face plant Joe.  He went on to become the first guy to win the Klinger Krash award before joining the team. He later got a second nickname when The Anvil's son in law thought he looked like the Russian boxer, Drago, in a Rocky movie.  Joe decided to take hockey lessons and wrote one of the funniest accounts that was published in the March 26, 2010 issue of the Duffer News. (Page 2 and 3) Who would have thought that just 6 years later, he would become a scoring machine and get a hat trick.
