New Old Guy Caps a Thriller!

Romeoville, IL January 27, 2017  Attendance: 16 (Sad)
We continued to be a hockey team with an attendance problem. We had only 14 skaters show up, so we played a 4 on 4 game.  Greg Z returned to action after being AWOL since the night we got free pizza from Rob Z back in December. Greg offered to pay a $30 fine for his absence, but the Czar declined so Beak immediately took a twenty for the beer fund. Our Beer man Monet Mike missed due to a bad hip. That was only Mike's second miss this year.  The Bear brought the beer for Mike and our Guest Anthony brought a case, so we are good for a few weeks.  The Reds took an early lead when Tom "TO" O Connor beat the Bear when he cut in from the left side and tucked it into the short side.  Greg Z tied it a few minutes later to end the Anvil's scoreless streak.  Ed had not given up a goal since January 6th!

The Bear made many great saves and needed a tall one.

Beak restored the lead for the Reds when he scored an unassisted goal.  The term unassisted is misleading because he did get help from 2 of his opponents.  The Czar had the puck in the corner when Beak came at him, so he tried to pass it to a forward, but it went right to his goalie.  Bear made the save, but the rebound went 4 feet out where Beak fired it past the him with a turn around slap shot.  Brian the Stewart scored a pair of goals to give the Reds a 4-1 lead.  His second goal came when he went to the net with his stick down where Jeff was able to bank a pass right off of his stick and into the net.  The Whites came roaring back to tie it in the second period with goals by Bill BTW, The Czar and Greg Z-man.  Speed Racer Jeff regained the lead for the Reds when he went top shelf on the Bear.  The Whites came on strong in the 3rd when Bill "Maestro" Conti kept his scoring streak alive with a goal that tied the score at 5 to 5 and then GZ grabbed the lead with 3 minutes to play in the game when he picked up his Hat TrickSpeed Racer Jeff tied it with 1:45 left on the clock.  The Reds attacked the Bear in the final minute and he made several great saves. Beak thought he had him beat when he fired a low shot at the 2 hole, but Bear got a pad on it and pre

served the tie. Then our new 62 year old Duffer prospect, "Crabs", beat the Bear to the one hole (Top shelf Blocker side) to give Eddie and the Reds a 7-6 thrilling win.  Red Goals: Jeff 2, Brian 2, and solo goals from Tom O'Connor, Beak and Crabs.  White goals: Greg Z 3, Solo goals from the Czar, Bill The Maestro and Bill BTW.  We were able to fill a table at the Kilt, so that was good. Beak is still looking for guys who want to go to Madison on Friday February 10.  Koss needs a room mate. Bob Friedlander and

Brian Kraft will be there.

The Anvil celebrated his 62nd birthday with a win.

The Anvil celebrated his 62 birthday with a thrilling buzzer beater win.  The Bear had a fine game, but his defenders couldn't get the puck out of the zone.

Speed Racer and his grandpa beak combined for 3 goals.

The Anvil had a lot of fun in his younger days.

Maestro Bill have been on a scoring streak.

Bill BTW had a goal for the Whites.

Greg Z had a hat trick!

The Czar was known as Rich Storm before he took his seat on the throne.

Beak gave the Reds an early lead.

Brian "Stew" Steward had 2 goals.

Tom "TO" O'Connor scored the first goal for the Reds.
